Solitude Forest - Campsites
Overpriced......read my review.
I initially paid for 3 nights but got a message several days later saying the booking had expired so had to go through the process again....wish I hadn't! I'm a keen fan of permaculture but from arrival at this ramshackle establishment I was disappointed. Didnt get to meet the host because she contacted me late the night before to say she wouldn't be there until the day after my arrival and would only be there that afternoon and the next morning. So, no meet and greet on arrival as advertised. Accessing the property was difficult due to the driveway being so bad. Driving through past old caravans etc looking for the actual camping spot (a ramshackle sloping piece of land with some scrubby trees and bushes) was scary as an old car driven by a young guy came tearing around forcing us to brake and veer off the track! We were told no one would be there. It turns out the driver was the hosts son obviously practising his rally driving! We could not access the camping spot, the road was far too dangerous. With bad weather forecast we left for safety reasons. When I complained Fiona said all roads are 2wd and that I had only booked for a car. Messages proved I had said twice I was towing a camper trailer. I am also in a 4wd and the 'roads' here are not safe. It's overpriced and am still waiting for the measly $40 refund offered after not even staying for one night! Host says catering is available in her ad but her Cafe has shut down and not surprisingly after reading reviews.

Great relaxation spot!
Fiona was a great host, she provided a nice instructions and we managed to self check in without meeting anyone. Place was easy to find, plenty of firewood provided for the little surcharge of $15 (highly recommend purchasing that upgrade) and the place is just stunning!
Not too many walks around the property though it is short drive to national parks, wineries and Orange!

:) Quite simple to find the location, with well maintained road access, signage and communication with the owner to get here.
The camp area was beautiful Australian bush which was well sheltered with big eucalypti and nice rolling hills to look out at if you take a little hike up the property.

Tree of Hope - Hilltop Campsite
Hosts were really helpful and valley views really lovely. Great potential as a youcamp site. Will be good for camping once site is cleaned up of stockpiled junk.
** RESPONSE FROM HOST: Hi Ross, our place is a work in progress using permaculture principles which mean resources need to be available. I’ve updated the pictures so there’s a reflection of how it is now given your feedback about
how it looks at the entry point.
Tree of Hope - Hilltop Campsite
This didn’t quite meet our expectations. We had the hilltop site and thought it would be secluded but had neighbours and also a permanent site being developed. District views are nice but spoilt a bit by the mess of the property as it gets developed. ** RESPONSE FROM HOST: We appreciated your honest feedback and have made a concerted effort to complete more of the projects on site. We are working away hard with the help of some wonderful people to further develop this place.

Tree of Hope - Hilltop Campsite
Positioned as a permaculture eco-retreat in a tranquil and private setting. This property did not meet expectations. It is a work in progress (currently a messy property). Our privacy and silence were spoilt by a generator running all night, and immediate neighbours. Friendly host and very helpful. ** RESPONSE FROM HOST: Unfortunately we can’t make people turn the generator off but have now put in place a time curfew for using the generator given your feedback, thanks.
