Gorgeous and remote; my nine year-old daughter and I had a wonderful evening here. She loved exploring the hills near the campsite, and the quiet was incredible-- we didn't see another soul the entire time. Already looking for a date to come back with my younger son for his own night under the stars.

So very glad you all had a good time. And the stars are one of my favorite parts of being there.

Boondocking at its finest. Dirt roads, remote location, beautiful sage n pines. Might need 4wd when wet.

This campsite was definitely off-the-beaten path. Quiet & beauty & solitude.
I enjoyed the howls of coyotes in the distance.
Grazing cows sauntered by.
I woke up in the morning to see mountain lion tracks in the sand very close by.
I loved my time out amongst the sage & ponderosa pine forest. I would return again in a heart beat.

This is a beautiful, peaceful, bug free camping spot. The host was very helpful in meeting us and showing the way.

Serendipity? Luck? Or just fortunate enough to change plans last minute and find this gem. If you want a beautiful spot hosted by a genuine western personality who’s stories and laughter speak of a generation fading away, this is for you. If you’re close to Santa Fe or Albuquerque , take time to climb thes hills and camp under endless stars. A hidden gem only seven miles from Cuba.

We came last minute looking for a place away from people and beautiful nature. We found both! It was our first time taking our large dogs camping and they don’t do well with people or other pets and this was a great place for us to acclimate them to camping. Cows came in towards dusk but the site is far enough away for there to be time to call the dogs back. We were able to explore around a bit and the nature is really unique and interesting. The owner had made accommodations to meet us on time and the gentleman was very friendly and knowledgeable of the land. Definitely will stay here again!

Beautiful spot just off the highway is like a throwback to another century. Rustic log buildings and horses add to the charm. Probably not suitable for an RV longer than 25’, but perfect for our overnight between Chaco and Taos. Our host was really friendly and helped us navigate our way in after dark - we were later than expected. We hope to visit again!

Camping at Southwest Sage and Pinon Pine was way beyond expectations. I stayed here midweek after spending the day at Chaco Canyon. This was boondocking at it's best. So much space to choose from and the land is beautiful. I found a sweet spot 1.5 miles in from the road. It was a nice flat spot under some Ponderosa's and as private as you could get. I didn't see or hear anyone else while I was here . I would return here in a heartbeat. Sherisse was friendly and helpful on the phone and the directions were very straight forward. Highly recommended.
