Sombra Antigua Winery is built near that famous Camino Real trail, three miles from Interstate 10 in the agriculturally rich Mesilla valley which is below the Franklin and Organ Mountains. If you need electric please reserve site 1. If you are roughing it Sites 2-5 are probably more your speed. Your camp site will have access to a working winery and tasting room, open Thursday thru Sunday from noon to 6 on Thursday and Sunday while we are open during warm months until 9 on Fridays and Saturdays, where you can enjoy live music and food Friday thru Sunday. Located one mile from the Rio Grande, half way between Las Cruces, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas, you are no more than thirty minutes from numerous amenities in both cities. Your campsite offers beautiful open sunsets, sunrises and wild life experiences. Tasting room purchases can also be made by appointment and Hip-campers get a %5 Wine Discount. Cellular signal is 4G 2 to 4 bars consistently.

Shade is not available at campsites so please be prepared in summer months, and this is a working grape farm so irrigation and tractor noises are a possibility.

We ended up not staying here. We arrived on a Monday and realized the winery was closed mondays and Tuesdays so we were the only ones there. Defeated the whole purpose of booking it. Also well over an hour from White Sands. Looks like a very cute spot.

Wide open space next to a winery. Set up your tent and then sample the wines. Only three spaces and not crowded.

Chris was a phenomenal host and the Sombra Antigua Vinyard is a place I would definitely return to. We stayed on a Wednesday so it wasn’t as busy as the weekends, which I’m told are quite fun. That saying, Chris took time out of his day to still give us a wine tasting even though they were technically closed and Chris had worked a long day. He was incredibly accommodating and one of the main reasons that the stay was so enjoyable. The site that we stayed on was well kept and spacious, especially since no one else was staying there. We loved the pecan orchard as well, since we were able to walk though it. Again, we loved this stay and would happily come back again!

Enjoyed being at the winery itself, having a glass of wine before bedtime. The camping spot was very nice and I slept well!

Wonderful stop, clean campground, beautiful view. We arrived Saturday afternoon....stopped over at winery, they had live music that was very good, enjoyable wine and food. We purchased a couple bottles to bring home. Definitely recommend.
