Site 1 is best for RV's and taller setups as well as tents and site 2 is best for smaller vehicles and tents. The hill going to the site('s) is short, approx. 0.2 ml. Its dirt and rock and a little steep but everything from bikes, motorcycles, sedans and buses can easily navagate without bottoming out, just take it slow. It has beautiful mesa views with plenty of privacy and a newly built outhouse within 50 yards. Madrid and sister village, Cerrillos are loaded with places to explore on foot or by other means. Both towns are very rich in history, from past ocean existance to Native American civilizations, silver and gold mining to booming wartime coalmining industries, to ghost towns.

Staying at Kim’s place on the mesa was the highlight of our recent vacation!! Campsite is clean, outhouse is pleasant, views are sensational! Kim is a responsive and friendly.
We camped close to a cemetery with graves for people born in the 1800s to recent burials.
The cemetery is charming & clearly well maintained & visited by the community.
We never camped in high desert before and highly recommend camping at Kim’s place!!
