E<< named "#1 campground in NM by Forbes" and by 3years in a Row!

Nestled in the Carson National Forest, starting @ 9000ft in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains lies the Enchanted Circle Campground, aka, E<<.  E<< is an exclusive, totally unique, primitive, and private campground that generally has open campsites during our short camping season of May 10th through October 31st.  E<< was very lucky, and proud to be Voted "2nd Best Campground in New Mexico" in 2019,  and humbled to be officially named "1st Best Campground in NM for 2020, 2021, and now 2022!" by both Forbes and

Sorry for the small novel you are about to read, but it is important and worth it, or we wouldn't have spent the time typing it or this sentence.

There are 7 Private campsites.

Site #1: This is our smallest campsite. It overlooks the valley and the ponds.  It is most often the favorite due to the exceptional views overlooking the water.   It is not large enough for any camper larger than 14ft due to the trees on the teardrop-shaped drive.  Only pop-ups, class A and teardrops are allowed here. It is best served as a tent site.  It is also located closest to the ranch house at about 300 yards from the house.  It is really best for any group smaller than 8, or people wanting to be remote without being "out there".

Site #2: is located in the middle of the ranch.  It is one of our larger spots and is perfect for everyone.  It overlooks the valley and has 2 fire pits and hammocks.  A great site for more than one trailer or RV.  It is also easily accessible.  It could easily fit 3 45ft RV's with space to spare, or 3 different families and their tents.

Site #3: is the most remote.  It sits on top of a pretty large cliff system that the Ute Indians actually lived in.  It has some of the most remote views and is by far the most private site.  This is Landon's favorite site.  It does now have its own porta-potty as well to save that pesky walk in the morning.  It is on top of a 45 ft cliff though and is not the best fit for groups with small children.   TRAILERS CANNOT GET TO SITE 3, due to very tight turns, and trees.  Do not be surprised by this.  This is a tent site or class A only! We will turn you around and send you to the Monte Verde RV Park.

Site #4.  Known as the "Aspens," This spot is great for larger groups. It is the furthest spot from the gate. It is nestled in the middle of a valley full of Aspens. There are giant fire pits, a Charcoal grill, pergolas, 3 Hammocks, 4 Log Benches, and plenty of space to explore.  This is our most reviewed and requested site.

Site #5. It is the flattest spot on the entire ranch, and one of the easiest to access. This spot is our original stargazer site. It has the biggest views and is the most open site @E<<. There are large ponderosa pine trees, but it is mainly the sky that attracted us to build this site.  This site was intended for Large RVs and Motor Homes larger than 34 ft.  But, If it is available, feel free to book it whether or not you are in a tent or RV.  Especially if stars are your thing.   This applies to all sites, If available and you can fit, book it.  We are first come first serve with our reservations.

Site #6 was also built for Larger Rvs Or larger Groups with multiple tents.  This site could easily fit 10 tents. It is also very accessible to Motorhomes and large units We have had 4 RVs on this site at once.  It is a mix of all of the environments we have here, with Big skies, Big trees, big views, and great privacy.  We built this site to accommodate the whole tribe. Come one, Come all!

Site #7  Is our Latest Addition to the E<< experiences.  This site is the very 1st site you come to once on the Ranch.  It is built like sites 5 and 6, with Large groups and RVs/Motor Homes in mind.  It is not limited though and is available to all.  It is Very Large, Perched on top of a hill that overlooks the entire valley.  This is our very best Stargazer/sunrise/sunset site.  It is capable of fitting 3 or 4 large RVs and is a great location for larger groups.  It is Closest to the Highway, but, it is still a few hundred yards uphill and behind trees, and very rarely will you see or hear traffic.  The view of Wheeler Peak and the Monster fire pit totally make up for it.  A few seasoned E<< vets have dubbed it the Best spot, we honestly still can't decide though...  They are each so unique and present a different experience overall.  We encourage you to try them all!

Site #8  We can't wait to share this special site... We have had many requests for this, so, we are making it happen.  Now, to be upfront, It will not be for everyone.  It will be totally different from all other sites.  It is located at our super secret squirrel spot, up a pretty steep mountain.  The hike takes about 15 minutes when you aren't dragging your gear.  It will be "Hike In Only."  It will have some amenities and features that no other sites will have as well.  Cough Cough it's a secret Cough Cough.......  So, for you Hardcore E<< fans, It is on the way, and will be ready for your adventures soon.

We recently finished a two Lane, 3D Archery Range.  There are also 2 Ranging Bales.  We are excited to add this for all of you archery fans and welcome you to use it during your stay.  There are rules posted at the beginning of the course for safety.  Ie. Only one shooter per lane, at a time.  This allows for 3 Archers to shoot safely, at the same time.  The Archery Range is located Past Site 5, along the back ridge of the property.  Follow the signs and be SAFE!  We are not liable for any accidents and your use of the range is your acknowledgment/consent/release of liability for E<<, the Ranch, and all individuals associated with us.  Use at your own risk.

This brings us to BB guns and other rifles/guns/pistols/shotguns.  They are just not allowed to be shot in the campground, unfortunately.  We welcome you to go to the State land, or off of the Ranch and shoot all you would like.  But, For the safety of our campers/kiddos/pets/birdhouses and our trash cans........  We simply cannot and will not allow firearms to be shot in the campground.  Now, You are absolutely allowed to have any and all firearms or defensive weapons you feel good using here on site, to protect yourselves from critters or who knows what.  We support your right and encourage you to do so.  But absolutely no target practice.

***Update***  We are building a bathhouse!!! It will be ready for the 2022 Season!!!

Kids are people too - Please include all people when booking your site.

@ E<<, you are surrounded by trees and wildlife no matter which site you choose.

We have also added handwashing stations and Antibacterial hand soap at each site. We also sanitize the campsites after each checkout to ensure all of our guests' safety to the best of our abilities and above CDC standards. Numerous man-made and animal trails wander their way through the ponderosa pine forest, with many more hiking opportunities within a short drive. The Ranch has both long and short nature hikes that allow for views of local flora, fauna, and wheeler peak.  We have too many to count, primitive and natural mountain bike trails, and many more to discover or trail blaze.   We recently were blessed by the Texas Trail tamers and the Texas Trail Association.  They visited and loved it so much they volunteered to build us an awesome trail.  And boy did they.  It is 3.7 miles long @ an average of 7% grade and shows off some of our secret places only a few knew about.  It is marked by flags currently and starts between sites 5 and 7.  Feel free to explore, and kick any branches on the ground out of the trail : )  We also offer Coleman 49CC mini bikes for rent by the day to explore all over the ranch.  They are great fun, low to the ground, automatic, and big enough to move a grown 245 lb man, up and down and all around this magical place we call home with ease.   Don't laugh until you try it.  We are not liable for any accidents, ride at your own risk.

E<< has 7 natural (underground) springs that run year-round.  3 spring-fed ponds, 2 of which are stocked with rainbow trout as well as native brown trout, and crawfish.  The natives are very picky eaters and require more patience than I usually have.  Many of our campers seem to have what it takes as they are caught often, but the rainbows bite on a few different things, you just have to find the right one, and then it's game on.  We do stock the ponds at the beginning of the season each year.  You can keep what you catch, up to 2, per person, per day.  You are also more than welcome to catch and release as often as you like. Please be gentle when releasing the fish, or if they are not going to make it, please cook them.  If you are here for a fishing trip, the surrounding lakes and rivers I personally enjoy fishing more, due to the amount of action you will encounter.  But, if you are just looking for a few nice trout for dinner, we are a good spot to cast your line.

We have just about every terrain here as well, from prairie and marshland to cliffs and mountainous forests.  The weather can be unpredictable at times, and as we do not control the weather, we ask that you understand that we do not refund due to inclement weather either... We have a little over 900 feet of elevation change on the ranch as well.  We have had campers deal with altitude sickness in the past, and have found the cans of oxygen sold at the grocery stores and all the other shops around AF are very very effective.  Also, our altitude creates a micro-climate here.  It is always cold at night.  Always.  Just plan for it, and if it turns out to be warmer, lucky you.  Otherwise, you WILL be cold at night... this is hands down what we hear most often from our guests.

We have numerous species of wildlife that called the ranch home before we did.  We have elk, mule deer, turkeys, bobcats, coyotes, rams, prairie dogs, beaver, bears, eagles, hawks, owls, lynx, sasquatch ; ) and the occasional mountain lion.  There are countless other species of birds here as well. We also have our horses, goats, pigs, and chickens free-roaming within the fenced ranch.  The critters that call our ranch home, are all very very well fed.  We have never had any issues with any of our Domestic or Farm animals involving the other Residents of the Ranch.  The abundance of deer, rabbit, and prairie dogs makes it a safe space for everyone else.  Just practice safe camping.  Lock up your food at night.  Take your trash to the Dumpsters before dark.  And if you see a critter that scares you, get big, get loud, and back away slowly.  Never Run.  We have had bear visitors to trash cans and coolers left out overnight.  Don't be scared, Just be smart and aware of your surroundings.

It is really important to leave all objects you find on the land where you found them (bones, things at the sweat lodge, etc) this is sacred land and we all need to respect that.  We are just the temporary stewards of this amazing place, and really want generations to experience it as they have before we were blessed to be a small part of this Ranch we call home.

Our Ranch can accommodate individuals, families, 4 legged family members, and both large and small groups.  We have hosted a few absolutely amazing weddings, small church groups, and Veteran Retreat groups.  We have plans and are working toward building this ranch to serve as a retreat center for any and all Veteran programs nationwide to utilize, to relieve some of the burdens they face in providing facilities for these amazing programs.  We are not a retreat program ourselves.  Just a safe environment for our Heroes to get some R&R in whatever program they may find themselves in.  So if you are or know of a retreat that could use a place, reach out to us, that is what we are here for.  We love to support Veterans, LEO, and Emergency Services.  We are Veteran owned and operated.  We will cover one night, for up to 4 campers, for any of those very much appreciated professionals. Please just email us a picture of your redacted DD214 or VA ID, Active Duty ID, or any ID that verifies your status to receive this discount.  [email protected] We use to do this on the honor system... but It is a crazy world and you wouldn't believe some people.  We hope you understand and we thank you for your Service.

The biggest draw to E<< besides E<< itself, is its proximity to Angel Fire and the Mountain Bike and Ski Resort. Located less than 5 minutes from Town.  There is plenty of exploring to do both on the ranch, in town, and on the famous Enchanted Circle.  Angel Fire has an amazing network of small business owners.  Intent on ensuring the visitors to our Enchanted Circle have an experience worth coming back for.  No matter what your favorite outdoor activities are, fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, trailblazing, golfing, or chillaxing. Angel Fire has something for you.

Nancy Burch's Horse tours and sleigh rides are an unforgettable way to see Angel Fire's natural beauty.  With a cup of Just Joe's hand-roasted blend of liquid awesomeness and a famous Angel Fire sunrise or sunset, the term "another day in paradise" actually just about covers it.  We have a local grocery store that has everything you may need, in stock.  A life-changing Food Truck called "Jeanette's" next to the farmers market in town that you really should add to your bucket list.  I told you so.   And so so much more to explore and discover on your own.  We don't want to spoil all of the surprises.  But, you won't forget us.

We are also located within 15 minutes of 3 State Parks, too many great fishing lakes to count, the world-famous Coyote creek which we are the actual headwaters for, and for all of you fly fisherman out there hunting for the super rare Gila trout, we are about as close as you can get.  Red River is also less than an hour from here and the brewery there is one of our all-time favorites.  They also have all kinds of ATV and Jeep rentals and some of the coolest stores in northern NM.  Come check it out!  We might just be your new favorite secret spot.

And just in case you love us, we could really use reviews on Facebook and Google.  Thanks again and look forward to seeing you here at E<<

Incredible. A must for mtb folk riding the lifts and willing to drive down the street and enjoy some real quiet. Thanks to the genuine owners for creating this.

First let me start by saying this place is unlike any other common campground. From the moment we arrived we saw half a dozen wild horses running by! Our campsite had 360 degree views of forests and mountains and not another soul in sight! We had so much room it was great to let our kids and Labrador happily run around. The next closest campsite was about 200 yards away and we couldn't even see them until we walked down to spotless port-a-potty. We had plenty of flat space to set up our tent and the pergola with table and chairs was a much appreciated amenity. Cooking was easy with their awesome wood fire grill and cooking utensils, but I still mainly used my propane camp stove. The fire pit was HUGE and they conveniently delivered firewood right to our campsite. Sitting by the fire we could see the sky full of stars and sometime around midnight a few of the horses quietly strolled up eating grass nearby. I couldn't believe how incredibly quiet it was here especially with the proximity to the main road. No matter what campsite I'd recommend walking or driving around to explore because there is so much to appreciate on this property. My kids and I enjoyed saying hello to the horses, pigs and goats and my son loved fishing in the beautiful ponds. We had a lot of fun at the "play area" swinging on the giant log swing, playing volleyball, and discovered our dog is really good at tetherball lol! This was exactly the kind of magical camping experience I hoped to share with my family. We made so many great memories and can't wait to come back and share it with more family and friends! Thank you Landon and Sofia for being such gracious hosts and creating such a truly enchanted campground.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place, as we'd been disappointed by a different camp site and were looking for a better place to go. THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE! The property is absolutely gorgeous and the the various sites are spread far enough apart that you forget you aren't the only person on the ranch. Moreover, our site (Site 3) had all the amenities we could ever want for an enjoyable camp: porta-john, trash can, a wood/tarp shelter, fire pit, a large grill, and hammocks already set up! Landon and Sofia were always there if we needed them for anything -- just text and they'll deliver more firewood or answer any questions you have about getting water or hiking on the property -- but otherwise we were left to enjoy our campsite like it was our own. This was honestly one of the best camping experiences I've ever had, and I can't wait to plan my next stay. Whatever you like to do: hike, fish, ride horses, or just relax in the woods, this place has it. You won't regret it.

Enchanted Circle Campgrounds is amazing. Beautiful, serene, private and spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts are receptive and kind, very informative along the way. The camp set up is awesome, which made for a fun time. I loved the camp fire benches and the cool lit up pergola, it was all so cozy. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you Landon and Sofia!
