The hogan was truly heavenly! Lori was a wonderful host. We loved drinking coffee by the chiminea in the mornings, surrounded by the quirky/beautiful landscaping, and watching sunsets from the roof of the hogan.
Heavenly night ✨
Heavenly Hogan was nothing short of its name! It truly is heavenly. The decor is gorgeous and so unique, the hogan possesses a zen, inviting energy that is hard to find when staying somewhere far from home. The outdoor amenities like a rooftop for stargazing, fireplace, and meditation spot are so wonderful, my only regret was only booking one night. Lori is absolutely wonderful too, and a great resource for learning about the local area, she was always available and responsive throughout our stay. Can’t wait to come back to Heavenly Hogan!
Completely worth every penny!!!!
I think Lori picked the name of her place perfectly! It is a little slice of heaven. She truly paid attention to all the minor details, from the coffee and sugar available to us to brew in the morning, to the ice cubes waiting in the ice tray and the bottled water, not to mention the already on A/C unit when we arrived! The cleanliness of the Hogan was impeccable, adding to its warmth and inviting ambiance. The sofa turned bed was beyond comfy, and slept myself, my 15 year old daughter and joining 7 year old son (whom Lori graciously allowed me to bring last minute!). The Heavenly Hogan was decorated tastefully, and there was every electrical kitchen gadget you’d need to make a meal. Don’t be discouraged by the photos- the place may look small, but I promise, it’s not! We had ample room to move around in, and my son adored the reading nook.
Moving to the outside, oh man!!! There’s detail everywhere. From the tiny stones placed between the larger stones to keep a smooth path, To the adorable faerie gardens, the peaceful water feature, the outdoor tub and shower, the multiple sitting areas and my personal favorite- the covered porch swing. It’s covered with a tin roof, so when it started sprinkling, I was transported to my childhood. But let us not forget the top of the Hogan! That’s right, the roof. You can star gaze on it, do yoga, sip cocoa as the sun rises or sets, or just look around in awe and the breathtaking scenery and skyline that is New Mexico.
Make sure you take time to meet the horses- they’re by far some of the friendliest I’ve ever come across. My kids and I cannot wait to return, I’m confident even in the winter months that this Heavenly Hogan will be worth the trip! Lori truly outdid herself with this place!
Heavenly stay at the heavenly hogan
My stay at the Heavenly Hogan was exactly the perfect place for my respite getaway. The Hogan itself is charming and has so much character. The outside area is full of zen and you are surrounded by such an amazing eclectic outdoor area you don’t really want to go inside. The roof is amazing for sunsets and stargazing and you can capture some amazing photos. Lori was a gracious host with an attentive ear. She has thought of everything that you could possibly need. She is extremely responsive if you do need her for anything. Prior to my trip I asked a thousand questions and she took the time to answer them all. It was more do you have this and this and her answer was always yes. I highly recommend the Heavenly Hogan, you won’t be disappointed!
This is the place! tell everyone!
Lori is the embodiment of a generous hipcamp host. She guided our car down the driveway after we knocked on her front door eager to arrive at the hogan. She would continue to check on us during the stay, making sure the path to the outhouse was illuminated, giving us access to the wifi (the house is out of service), and sharing tomatoes from their garden. The hogan itself was a stay rich in history and character. From the original stain glass windows to photo books detailing the progress made on the land, I felt as if I was getting to be apart of a grand story. Truly this is a place made for big celebrations and quiet stargazing. The hogan is temperature regulated naturally, but Lori has provided every amenity for the stay to be easy. Heating, AC, grill, kitchen equipment, outdoor shower, seats to admire the views, path lighting, coffee, snacks, a landline and intercom for communication, and many other things. I cannot recommend a better host or home for you to spend time in, whether you are looking to elope in the New Mexico hills or escape for the weekend with people you love. This is the place for both. The location is central to good hiking and about twenty minutes from Santa Fe. It doesn't get much better! Be sure to stay up late for the stars and if you are willing, wake up early to watch the sunrise. You can always go back to sleep or head into Madrid for local coffee. The views are worth it.
