Located about 5 miles South from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, this campsite is part of an established and historic off-grid community in Tres Orejas, and is part of the Carson Estates. The views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains are absolutely incredible with spectacular sight line of the gorge running north to south.

Come kick back and enjoy the chamisa breeze under our sunny skies. Warm days and cool nights- gorgeous high mountain desert views in every direction. Watch the ravens sky dance as they soar overhead throughout the day, or enjoy some of the best star gazing in the state at night. Super spot to enjoy sunset and sunrise.

Within our community, you will pass a variety of camps, structures and homes  including earth-ships, yurts, cabins, casitas, school buses, RV/Mobile homes and  airstreams, geodesic domes, some biotechture, and a bit of DIY hodgepodge.

At the campsite, you will have a nice amount of personal open space where you can see and stretch the eyes for miles and miles. The campsite itself is a 1/4 acre lot, adjoined to my 1 acre lot, and you will have your own graveled entrance road and a graveled driveway. Host will be onsite in the front/West lots, and campers get the back/East lot all to themselves.

These lots are just a few acres away from the Carson National Forest boundary line. The camp site is not visually private or secluded per say due to lack of trees,  visibility of other neighbors in the area,  and the general openness of the mesa itself- but you will have lots of private and personal space.  Check the photos for an idea of the layout and spacing.  Most all of the neighbors in the area are aware of my listing, so please feel welcome to set up and do your own thing and explore!

5 gallons of fresh drinking water included upon arrival. A small hand-washing setup is also provided with soap and paper towels. You can book a bundle of firewood as an extra and have a super generous rack of firewood ready at your site upon arrival to use in the fire-ring!

Phones do work out here, and depending on your device's signal, you may even be able to access the wifi- feel free to use it if you are able to connect!

*** ALL ARE WELCOME -  SAFE SPACE - NO HATERS, PLEASE!  ***

Location:

Tres Orejas is just under a 45 minute drive to downtown Taos on HWY 64,  1 hour North of Española off 285.  Located between El Prado and Carson, around mile marker 5 off of West Rim Road in Tres Orejas, on the western mesa aka 'Three Peaks' in Carson Estates.

Heads Up: There is some discouraging 'riff-raff' and a couple of unsightly lots at the entrance to our community. Though visually displeasing, don't feel deterred. These lots are no more than an eyesore. Continue past the bulletin board, and up the road- you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of views and community up in the foothills.

Nearby Sites & Activities:

-Rio Grande Gorge visible from campsite

-Buddhist Stupa and Temple visible from the campsite and about 10/15 minute walk away

I highly highly highly recommend driving South on West Rim down from the mesa to the canyon towards Pilar and the Taos Junction bridge. It will be one of the most amazing and exciting drives you've ever done! One of the best spots in all of Taos area. Enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, or splashing around in the Rio Grande!

Enchanting. Arrive with an open heart and this spot will please. We camped out the back of our car and the views were stellar! Not much privacy, but you can’t be surprised by that bc there is no shrubs about hip height! Abigail gave us the whole back lot to ourselves. Unbeatable night skies, sunsets, and sunrises. The outhouse was clean and cozy. Would go back again.

Absolutely gorgeous view of the Sangre's amidst the sage brush. Plus right around the corner from Taos, the gorge, and the earthship biotecture.

How beautiful it is to be surrounded by fields of sage and lovely mountain views! We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset and sunrise over the horizon. We even caught glimpses of some of our favorite constellations in the early hours of the morning. Highly recommend. The hosts are so kind and accommodating :)
