About 600 feet away is the Mullica riverfront, where you can enjoy water activities from sunrise-sunset (this is a common area).  Kayaks/SUP, tubes, fishing gear & firewood available for an extra charge.

Explore nearby hiking/biking/off-roading trails accessible at historical Batsto Village. Take a dip in the river and lounge on the dock or under the cabana.  Bring your kayaks, canoes, floats, and fishing poles to play in the river, and binoculars to watch the bald eagles and other wildlife.  A flock of free-range hens are on-site and their morning clucking may be heard from the site. On weekends, live music may also be heard from the nearby Sweetwater Marina & Riverdeck.

The Mullica river is tidal, brackish water (mix of fresh and salt with iron ore deposits) - any light colored bathing suits/clothing will be tea-stained after swimming.

NOTE: There are 2 sites on this property, but only one will be booked at a time. Those without Verizon cell provider will not have cell service.

The prepared site is pretty much accurately described, and we had a great time in the Pine Barrens. We went on a couple of canoeing trips with a company the host suggested. There's a small area at the site for a tent (our 5-person filled it - it would be perfect for a 2-3 person tent); a fire circle; and a nylon shelter with a portable toilet inside. The toilet is has a chemical cleaning system and flushing was a little tricky - we got the hang of it. Water for cooking is a few hundred feet down the driveway by a barn. No shower, but the river is very refreshing (just pay attention to tides as the level varies a lot). You could hear a band playing at a nearby establishment in the evenings - music my sons and husband like, but might not work for people seeking peace and quiet in the outdoors. The only problem we had - which turned out to be significant - was that the site is very close to the neighbor's driveway, and apparently the neighbor wasn't happy about it. As we were preparing to swim in the river our last full day, and older man drove by in his truck and dumped out a pot of water then drove off - making my teenage son uneasy. Then a few minutes later he drove back and started videoing me with his phone while I was unloading something from the trunk of my car (parked on the site owner's property but near his driveway). When I said something he drove off towards his house. At our insistence, the host and neighbor then had a conversation they probably should have had before the site opened. After this conversation, we talked to the host and felt OK enough to stay one more night and leave in the morning. It appears that the listing hasn't been reopened since last summer, which is unfortunate. I don't know what happened - apparently the neighbor has already complained to the local town council - but I guess it's a caution to hosts to discuss what their intentions with the neighbors, especially if campsites are anywhere close to property lines.

Lauren and her mom were great hosts. The lake was gorgeous, especially at sunset, and the little clearing for our tent and fire was cute. There's a nifty little outdoor toilet as well, and the chickens added a lot of charm. We really enjoyed our stay!

Pitch Pines was So lovely and Lauren was such a wonderful host! What a beautiful property, lovely lake and cute stickers! The chickens add such charm! The campsite is so well kept and was so nice to visit. I can't say enough good things about our time at Pitch Pines! (Also those were some delicious eggs from what seems to be very happy chickens!)

Our stay was great! We spent a lot of time just laying on the dock, enjoying the river. We also took Lauren's kayaks out for a 3 hour paddle up the river. There was lots of wildlife and it was really fun to see some of the houses and cool little streams.

The chickens that roam around the property were pretty funny to watch and interact with. Lauren was super nice and gave us a lot of great info about the surrounding towns before our trip and when we arrived. She had kindling laying around for us to use and checked in to make sure everything was ok. I would definitely recommend this site!

This site was wonderful! Feels private but very accessible, full suite of amenities. The river dock is right there and is beautiful. Lauren is a great host and everything we needed was already there.

A quiet little site tucked into the woods. Pitch pine offers a stealth camping experience that you wish you could get in the pines. The host is wonderful offering up river access and a bunch of other add ons that make this place feel so welcoming. Set up your camp and enjoy the area. If you listen close at night you might even be treated to a fox call!
