You will need to bring your own boat. You can use a motorboat but beware the water can be shallow in places. It takes about 15 minutes to paddle my canoe over. The island is full of wildlife: deer, raccoons, otters, and countless birds. The treehouse is approximately 16' x 16', open platform. The treehouse is not suitable for young children. You may set up a tent on it, or sleep under the stars. You will need to contact us directly for the combination for the treehouse lock. You may also set up a tent on the ground. We also highly recommend you bring a hammock and a good book. The entire island is yours to discover. Beware of the stinging nettles. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are best for exploring. The island has lots of sandy beaches. It is fine to have a fire on the beach only as long as you observe provincial fire restrictions. You may burn any deadfall or driftwood you find. Fishing is unregulated in the St John River at this location because it is considered tidal water. "No fishing license required". The island is located within the city limits of Fredericton. You can bike into town on the walking trail approximately 5km, which is located at the parking area where you will put your boat in. The city has many good restaurants, microbreweries, and attractions to explore. It is pack in pack out camping. Leave no trace. A luggable loo is a great option.
