Difficult to follow directions
About that road- High clearance V Suggested. I have a 2017 Tacoma Off Road and that is a very rough road. Directions to Pinenut Road #2 good so far, But then they get less So. After a few Y branches you get "Stay on the Most Travelled Path. Ah - they look the same to me. Go through the Burn Area. Well never got through if the dead trees are the defining factor of Burn. The grass got green in the creek wash but not on hills. What about that Hairpin turn. To me hairpin is 180 degree Never saw one more than 100. So not sure if I'm where I'm supposed to be. Then I came to a sign that said Private Property, and some info about children and not to drive on the sides of track, Did it have an address on the sign, No. Did it say this is Pinenut Paradise, No. In the Eastern and Midwest U.S. Private Property signs imply Keep Out, No Trespassing. This is Nevada, and I have passed several signs that also mention having guns and shooting trespassers. So I turned around and drove back looking for any turn I might have missed that could be the campground. Now I'm seeing that one Y also has a large Metal cross with plastic tape strips. No mention of that in the directions. Then what about the Y that has the left go to a gate and sign for a Private Ranch. No mention of that which would help to know if I was on the correct road. A few days later I have noticed that even though I never got to this camp I was charged for staying. Oh and can you call or text for help after you get into the hills. No signal on T-Mobil, no way to ask for info.

This was quite an adventure! Place is scenic with nice valley views. It wasn’t easy to find. We were lucky Host met us on the way and showed us the place and helped us settle in. He was nice. We had a nice campfire. However, trees in the area may be burnt now with wildfire. Also, the house and toilets are burnt recently. Be prepared to have an adventure in burnt wilderness with a shovel!

What a great experience! My fiance and I decided to do something spontaneous for the weekend to escape the smoke burn from the fires in northern CA and found this little gem. As we pulled in, we were greeted by their son, their sweet dog, and shortly after Abraham. He was very warm and welcoming and greeted us home for the weekend. We were led to our campsite which has an amazing view of the Carson Valley. The campsite itself was very clean. He put up some amenities for guest comfort and can tell he put a lot of thought into his campsites. Although rustic, it was an amazing campsite. Clear skies and you can see the stars. Tips for someone looking into this site, a high clearance vehicle is very recommended as the site is off the paved road and has some very easy and not technical trail. The directions he gave us were spot on with our GPS. The GPS told us we were there and we immediately found the sharp hair pin turn that leads to his property. Be aware that there is no cell signal in some spots and it is very dark at night. Abraham and family, thank you so much for making us feel at home, we highly recommend this site and we will come back in the future!

My First and awesome experience with Hipcamp and this host. We booked the place, drive 2 hours away from our route to camp here. ( They had pictures of Tepees and beautiful surroundings ) Get got there and nobody came out. The place look awful. We call several time and email....never reach a soul. The property didn't have any signs but "NO trespassing" and "Private Property" which made us feel a bit scare to get out of the car and get shoot. It was late already and we had to find a new place to camp at 11pm anywhere....Terrible experience. Be careful with the listings in this site and contact the host before you book, days on advance.
