This was a wonderful spot. Gorgeous views, lots of space, and the coffee add on is definitely worth it! We only spent the one night, but we are definitey planning on using this campsite anytime we’re nearby.
Wild west adventure
I recommend this hipcamp, we stayed for a night in early October, here are some highlights:
- While you're driving down the road to the camp you'll see friendly cows freely roaming about.
- Friendly neighbors; I got a little lost but luckily a neighbor flagged me down and gave me some directions. My advice, if you're using google maps you have to go a bit further down the dirt road than where the coordinates bring you. Then you'll find the box marker on your left.
- It may have been because I was the only camper that night but it was really peaceful and silent, best sleep I've had in months.
- This place is perfect for stargazers, we saw so many stars and constellations were very clear.
- There was a fire pit with log stumps for seating, makes you feel like you're in a western movie with cowboys! In addition there was a garbage can at the site.
- Morgan was very hospitable, gave me directions to the hot springs and greeted me after we arrived to make sure we were all set and to answer any questions.
- Like another comment said, be ready for dust/sand, Morgan mentioned he started laying out gravel which helped immensely.
Unforgettable experience & hosts
Morgan and Chris are the nicest, most welcoming people and the ranch is unforgettable. If you want to make memories at a truly unique place, this is your chance! We arrived with two parents and 5 kids aged 6 through 8 months, and Chris and Morgan gave them a tour, chances to help with the animals, and let them play with the kittens (which turned out to be a huge highlight of their trip). We were lucky to stay in one of the hand-built tiny houses, quaint, cozy and perfect for my little family of 4 (myself and three kids). The landscape here is remarkable, the sunsets and sunrises unforgettable. This is a gem in Nevada and totally beats staying in a hotel if you're looking for a welcoming experience.
A stunning, gorgeous, remote place to pitch a tent! Beautiful sunsets and views of the mountains, not a soul for miles around except for Morgan and his family — welcoming and friendly hosts.
An excellent find
Amazingly quiet and peaceful. Morgan and his horses are super friendly, and this was a great break from noisy hotels and RV-filled campgrounds. Less than 20 minutes off the highway and definitely worth the detour.
