After 3 miles, at the end of pavement, you will see a sign that says "Dry Camp", with a long dirt driveway. Our campground is 13 miles before the hazardous road to Chaco Canyon. We like to say the we are "The Gateway to Chaco Canyon". Save the wear and tear on your trailers, camp with us! Horse-Thief Campground is an upcoming camp; located on 5 acres of land and more, for campers to enjoy. In a quiet; serene, beautiful landscape area of the Dine Nation. With beautiful sunrise; sunsets and night sky is out of this world. There are trails in which visitors may walk or bike, as well as a Look Out Point. Horse-Thief is currently a Dry Camp with no Electricity or running water however generators are welcome. There is one portable restroom. We look forward to Meeting and Greeting you! Ready? Set? Grab your camera and head to Chaco Culture National Historical Park for a perfect shot and lesson in history! First shot is for definitely Canyon Loop Road where you’ll see the massively impressive dwelling of the Pueblo people. Explore all six sites, Una Vida, Hungo Pavi, Pueblo Bonito, Chetro Ketl, Pueblo del Arroyo, and Casa Rinconada, up close and personal, or take in an depth ranger led talk at Pueblo Bonito. Not far off is the a trail of ancient petroglyphs, or you can hike out into the backcountry until sunset to see the stunning valley along with remote Chacoan sites. You’ll want to set up camp before dark though, because that’s when the real show begins! Only one of four in country, Chaco is a designated Night Sky Park aka the most ballin’ place to see the cosmos! Chaco Culture, the park, and the night sky are so surreal here, you just might forget to use that camera.
