We are a somewhat remote 20 acre off-grid homestead/farm specializing in raising cashmere goats with a couple of dairy goats, too.  There are two Livestock Guardian dogs that do bark when there is something to bark at.  They are kept up with the goats, so they won't be coming down and bothering you.   We are an hour and a half drive away from Glacier National Park, and about an hour away from Flathead Lake. There are numerous lakes within an hour drive that provide great fishing and paddling adventures. We are 21 miles southwest of Kalispell, the hub of the Flathead Valley.  Four miles up a forest service road, we are somewhat remote, yet close enough to everything to make it a good place to use as a base camp to take day trips from.  The forest service road is a bit rough and so is the road to the campsite.  If you have a low slung car, you'll have to do some maneuvering to avoid hitting bottom.  SUVs or pickups are perfect for coming up here.  Something with higher clearance than a sedan. This site has room for up to 10 tents, depending on size. It's a former round pen back when I had horses. Now a grass meadow area.  A small fire ring with a good supply of firewood is on one side of it. There is a covered picnic table and a very rustic solar shower stall.  If you let me know you'd like a shower, I can have a 5 gallon water jug filled with water to put in the shower bag.   There is a nice sized outhouse with a composting toilet, too.  The Google map picture is a bit outdated. We do have a couple of neighbors, but they are out of sight. Occasional barking of the dogs is the main noise factor.  We also have Guinea fowl, which can be noisy at times. Otherwise it's a quiet forest experience with lots of song birds, deer and rabbits strolling by. If you'd like hands on experience with the goats, that's welcome, or you can just use this as a home base for exploring all that the area has to offer.  There is a primitive trail up to a rock outcropping behind and above our place that gives a good view of the surrounding area and mountains.  It's a game trail that I have flagged so you can find your way up to the " rocks" and back.  If you are adventurous, you can go it alone, or I can guide you up there and make sure you don't get lost along the way.

Pine Needle Farm Cashmeres is a wonderful place to camp. Ann and John are friendly, accommodating, and take great care of their guests! Like others have said, Ann’s direction are on point. Their goats, livestock guardian dogs, and chickens are a huge bonus. If you can appreciate the time, effort, and resourcefulness of building and maintaining a homestead- you will enjoy their property.

Pine Needle Farm is a treat! We spent four nights here and enjoyed the spacious, clean campsite and beautiful surroundings. While the location is a bit remote, that was a bonus for us – the Montana scenery is gorgeous and we often saw birds, little critters, butterflies, does and bucks coming up and down the hill to her place. Beyond the occasional (and welcomed) barking of her sweet guardian dogs, the site was quiet and peaceful – especially at night with the stars big and bright. Ann is a gracious host, and it was a treat to spend time at her sweet Montana homestead/farm – definitely recommend to those looking for a wild experience a little off the beaten path!

Cool little place! Ann was super sweet, she has an awesome homestead, and the campsite nearby is perfect, with firewood and a toilet and some service, if spotty. It’s a hard road to get there, so don’t do it in the dark or with a trash car (mine got there, but barely)

Thank you for staying here! I'm glad your car made it up here, dodging the rocks in the road.

Peaceful, remote. No city sounds, just nature. Our stay was for two nights but we loved the place so much, we stayed an extra night. Ann has a great, thoughtful, mindful approach to the campsite, allowing the opportunity to meet her wonderful dogs that are vigilant over the goats and property.
Follow Ann's detailed directions to her farm. After the last paved road from Kila, MT. You'll travel on non-paved forest road, so watch for the markings. The camp has a clean, private compost toilet/changing area and covered firewood area with plenty of wood supplied. There's a comfortable outdoor shower, enclosed with base. Solar shower is provided. Ann has provided a covered picnic table and cook table, fire ring. The ground is level, but don't expect lush, soft grass, its a forested, mountainous area, the area is cleared just enough and walking trails nearby.
Great job by Ann.

Campsite set up with shelter and changing room/compost toilet room. Very clean.Great fire ring and wood provided by host. Kept us warm during the cold mornings and evenings.Entrance to camp site. Private, peaceful and felt very safe.

What a lovely stay! My partner and I spent a night here while exploring the Flathead Lake area and had the most peaceful time away from the crowds of Glacier. Ann greeted us and introduced us to her dogs (all bark and no bite). The site itself was spacious and tidy, with plenty of wood and privacy (we didn't get a chance to try out the shower but the outhouse was really clean). We cooked and looked at the incredible stars, feeling good that the dogs would alert us to any bears wandering through the area. There is a great little hike to a lookout on the property, which was the perfect place for our morning coffee. And as a spinner, I really enjoyed chatting with Ann about spinning and weaving, and went home with a bag of beautiful cashmere as a souvenir. All in all it was a really special stay and I wish we'd gotten another night! Would camp again with no hesitation.
re: the road up, I made it just fine in a Honda Civic, no trouble at all.
