Warriors o' Rainbow Horse Sanctuary
This is quite a quiet and private site, bordered by a neighbor's old forest on back, other neighbor's cattle pasture on side, and you're in one of the pastures used by the Horse Sanctuary. (You are camping about 1/4 mile, more or less, from our house.)
We regularly see coyote, wild turkeys, deer, fireflies, and the like.
We are just 1/2 mile off Old Route 66

We are just 1/2 mile off Old Route 66, therefore there are quirky little museums and great restaurants (for such a rural area!).
Plus we are only about an hour's drive from Branson. MO. which is a known tourist attraction.

Not too far off the highway; a quiet and pleasant stay. Ground isnt too level if you're in a camper (its just a field) and It would be hard to get in through the gates if you have anything longer than 17 ft. Lots of old horse poop but I didnt mind. The horses and cows made good company. Overall a fine and convenient place to stop for the bight
Really like the fact that the money goes 💯 percent to the non profit. Such a good cause - saving starving horses!!
great place for an overnight crash spot. horseslook happy as clams.... or happier i dare to guess. beautiful starry sky and great place if you have dogs.... nice open space for them to run. the young gentleman carekeeper was very friendly and courteous. .

We had to find a place last minute on our roadtrip out west and this place was a perfect car camping option. Directions were clear, the spot was clean, quiet, and peaceful. Unfortunately we arrived when it was dark and left when it was dark so we didn’t get to see the horses :( but I was happy to know that our payment went to an amazing cause!

Thank you so very much we certainly appreciate the support we get from the Hipcampers. Come back again in the daylight and you’ll get to see the horses for sure then
It was peaceful and relaxing, though you can hear road noise from Route 66. This is a rustic spot and the latrine is a fair distance from the site. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Beautiful walk in the pasture with the horses one morning. Nice fire in the fire pit (free wood provided). Great to know my hipcamp fee goes toward these majestic animals’ rehabilitation and subsequent adoption. Saving lives and enriching lives.

What a delightful campsite! It was perfect for me because it was immediately off Historic Rte 66, which was the route I was following. No big detour required. It was very quiet and pastoral (which of course what you would expect at a horse Sanctuary). There was minimal light pollution so the stars were spectacular.

Thank you Susan for your kind words. In fact, thank all of you Hipcampers: without your support, the Sanctuary would not be able to afford to continue. So not only do you get a great camping site you get to feel great because you are doing good in the world.
Convenient location for a Route 66 trip! Friendly host- was a pleasant, no hassle stay. :)
Didn’t feel much like a horse sanctuary. Was a bit challenging to get through the gate into the back field. But it was a Nice and quiet night in a big field.

Yes the gate can be a little tricky. At the height of fly season, like this, horses pretty much spend all the time in their own loafing shed which is at the entire opposite end of the property - that way, you don’t get the flies and the manure smells in your campsite. Any camper that wants to interact with the horses is welcome to book a photo opportunity or a riding lesson and we will make sure you get plenty of interaction. Also, sometimes the horses do choose to wander up to the corner where the hip camper site is, of their own volition. I’m sorry if you had been hoping for that and they did not do it, your time.
We relaxed after setting up the tent on a grassy spot in the evening watching the beautiful horses and fireflies. It was too warm for a fire in the firering but there was plenty of camp wood to use. In the morning our coffee was enjoyed while watching the cardinals, horses and chickens. The rustic setting was nice, and lots to do near by. The hosts were helpful and very accommodating. Water was available and an outhouse which needs attention, but had supplies and lights.
