Pitch a tent or pull up in a camper! Reserve simply to fish and enjoy a 10-acre private lake and space to explore, or book for the whole camping experience!

This property is about 10 minutes off of I-70, and far enough out to enjoy the quiet, yet close enough to go and pick up whatever you need in town.

There's a nature reserve nearby (just a walk or short ride down a gravel road) that provides even more room to explore.

We have WiFi, electrical, and water available. There are also truck stops nearby, as well as fast food, a pharmacy, and a Walmart within a 10-15 minute drive.

This is an OPERATING FARM/RANCH and gates and fences must be left AS FOUND. Care must be taken if walking in areas where animals are located. Pastures and fields with cattle in them, or other livestock are OFF LIMITS or MUST have a qualified guide with you.

HONEYBEES are managed on the property. Yes, you CAN arrange for a tour or beginners lesson. Some protective equipment is available.

A cash donation is appropriate for guided services, such as foraging, plant identification, fishing, beekeeping, and other lessons, etc.

There is a kayak and a rowboat and some fishing gear that may be available for use at your own risk (please let us know if you would like to use them or need any assistance or training).

Please see the Directions area for more information and guidance that could be helpful for your enjoyment of this very private and yet very accessible camping location!

Mike’s Hipcamp was super easy to find and convenient to find arriving late at night. His two Great Pyrenees, Bonnie and Zeus, greeted us upon arrival. We had a short and sweet stay and got to meet Mike the following morning and see a queen bee!

Great experience. Easy to access - remote but driveable to nearby stores for supplies. Mike was a wonderful host. He was thoughtful and was quick to offer if we needed anything for our stay, but also concientious enough to allow us to enjoy our privacy. He even dropped off firewood directly to our site when we were running low.

Great pond/lake access right by the campsite for fishing at any and all hours of the day. My wife dropped in a line and within 10 seconds was reeling in a sizeable channel catfish.

We tent camped at the Emerald pond site. The site has good morning and early afternoon shade. The site is easily accessible, free of litter, and cozy.
We brought our stand up paddle board, fishing poles, and hiking shoes. There is a lovely lakeside fire pit. If you enjoy nature watching, bring binoculars or camera. We observed many butterflies flying about the wildflower prairie.
We left Holiday lake feeling recharged & thankful for Mike’s hospitality.

Various variety of milkweedCampsite near Emerald pond. Plenty of space - we brought an outdoor stove and a sun shelter. Hiking over the dam we saw many caterpillars and butterflies Stand up paddle board on Holiday lake. You can catch & release bass and catfish here too.

Mike was a great host. I stayed one night, and really enjoyed his spot on on the lake. I felt like I knew everything I needed to know before I even got out there because Mike was so organized and provided all the details about the campsites.

Mike's property is a perfect spot to camp out for the night, do some fishing, and just enjoy the outdoors. The property was nicely mowed and even had a couple trails you could walk. We fished off the dock and shore and were caught catfish and bass. The property is just minutes off of I-70 and really close to stores, restaurants, etc. I'd recommend Mike's place to anybody looking to get out of the city for a minute and enjoy the country.

View from the swing. We caught bass and catfish from right here.
Another view from the swingMy 6-year old son, Hank, enjoying the bonfire and full moon. One last picture before we had to leave.

Great place to stop for the night on our cross-country trip. We're animal lovers and really appreciated the menagerie that roamed the grounds: dogs, ducks, geese, chickens, and two adorable miniature goats. The fish were jumping in the lake when we arrived in the evening. If i remember correctly, they keep it stocked with bass and muskie. A fishing pole was leaning against a tree, inviting guests to cast a line.

Our host Mike and his family were wonderfully friendly, but also respected our privacy and gave us space to enjoy the land. Finding a level place to park the Airstream was tricky, but it was easy enough to back it up and turn it around come morning. Unfortunately, when we were packed up and ready to head out we discovered that our car battery was dead - aargh! Luckily, Mike's father was home at his adjoining property, and lent us his battery charger. After thirty minutes of charging and easy conversation, we were on our way. Very appreciative of the help!

Casting a line off the end of the dock.Pulling out of the driveway after our stay. So long, sweet farmstead...we loved our visit! Perfectly weathered dock leading out into the lake. Greeted by part of the barnyard welcome committee.
