Well-marked hiking trails lead from the house and garden through the woods, down to Columbine Falls and up through maturing oak stands. Enjoy 2 of the provided cotton hammocks in the Hammock Paddock in front of the cabin, or pull up a stool at the private Lafferty Cabin Bar along the trail to watch the sun set over the rugged Ozark hills. This newly constructed tavern resides under the preserved roof of an historic 19th century log cabin. Located 30 minutes from Ava, the “Treasure of the Ozarks,” and 1 hour from Springfield, Branson, and Mansfield, Dockley Ranch stands as an intentional preserve of natural beauty and peace of mind.
Our 220 sq ft. Hilltop Cabin, accessible by car, but on a gravel road, has a double bed on the ground level, a double bed up in the sleeping loft, and a twin bed in the sleeping loft. This cabin has electricity, and an indoor toilet and kitchenette. On a Saturday night, head to the nearby Oldfield Opry for local music and open jam session. There are 3 other places near the cabin to pitch a tent, or hike into the woods for the camp site of your choice.
December-January-February is WINTER MODE. Water access is limited, so there is not a kitchen sink or shower at the cabin. There is a flush toilet and bathroom sink a short walk away at the event center in a heated building.

Incredible area. Very secluded and lots to do! We spent s lot of time playing in the creek and hiking around the property. The waterfall was a blast! My daughter and i got to bottle feed baby goats! We can't wait to come back.
We had an absolute blast there. As soon as we pull in Claire was there to greet us and gave us a tour of the cabin and kitchen plus the lay of the land. She was very friendly and more than willing to help with anything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Myke came up next to help with setting us up with water and the setup of everything. Both of them radiate happiness and it rubs off on you! The cabin was cute and clean as well as the kitchen and bathroom. If you are looking for seclusion and peace this is the place for you. There farm dogs as well as goats and alpaca were the icing on the cake for my kids. We will return again for sure!!
Dockley Ranch hilltop cabin was the perfect getaway for this dad and his two young boys (8 and 6). We had an absolute blast spending time exploring the creek, the waterfall, and the surrounding land. The hosts were attentive, and assisted us with anything we could have needed. We highly recommend spending time with the goats if you get a chance. We can’t wait to come back very soon! Thanks again to our excellent hosts, Myke and Claire for a wonderful experience!
Wonderful stay at the hilltop cabin
My daughter, grandchildren and I loved our stay at Dockley Ranch Hilltop Cabin. Myke showed us around when we arrived. The cabin is cute with so many unique features to discover. The kids loved sleeping in the cool lofts. My teen slept on one side in her own area; the younger two slept on the other side. The beds were quite comfortable and the air conditioning kept it cool inside. The kids loved the unique way of climbing up to the loft. It was sort of like a playground or fort for them. We loved the sunset views and the neat little areas set up around the ranch. Claire and Myke are both friendly and very welcoming. Myke brought us a large jar of food to feed the alpacas, llama and goats. We all enjoyed interacting with all the animals as they were able to free range graze our first morning there. There are several friendly dogs on the ranch who hung out with us outside our cabin and even joined us on our hike to the creek. The kids caught tadpoles in the pond and crawdads and minnows in the creek. The waterfall is beautiful. At the suggestion of Claire and Myke we hiked down the creek which was fun and quite pretty. I enjoyed cooking and even washing dishes in the neat little outdoor kitchen area. And we all enjoyed eating at the outdoor picnic table. We had a campfire with a view in the evenings. The hammocks were enjoyed quite a bit also. My teen daughter enjoyed a pretty spot with a table and chair set up under a big shade tree where she spent several hours drawing. The shower area was neat and the hot shower was wonderful! A great place to stay and experience!
Little piece of heaven
Beautiful, peaceful, and remote relocation. Claire and Myke are welcoming and friendly hosts. Their house was comfortable, clean, and adorable. We enjoyed the hiking trails and playing music on their stage. Highly recommend!
This is a truly magical spot, and one of the most beautiful spots I’ve stayed in as far as October fall views go.
I enjoyed my solo stay very much, and between the inviting host family and their four dogs, I was in good hands! The space felt comfortable and rustic. I enjoyed sleeping in the loft, even though there was a nice bed on the main level. Hiked a bit and made a fire without any trouble. Can ask to use indoor showers, but outdoor one works fine too.
The space includes a pavilion and bathroom within sight of the cabin, and a stage for events as desired. The ranch is secluded, no noise or light pollution. The animals are content to share their space, though! Beautiful landscape, makes you feel instantly that you are on vacation.
Do several days if you can- the first one primarily for taking in all the natural beauty. Beyond that, lots of options. I will definitely be back!
