Our happy place
My wife and I had a FANTASTIC stay at Monarch Hill Vineyard! Their property was beautifully maintained, quiet, and peaceful. Darrell and Gina were both very welcoming and hospitable throughout our stay. The instant lightning and a down pour happened, I got a message from Darrell asking if we were OK and needed to get inside. They also have 2 adorable dogs that welcomed us when we arrived and each morning, and with us being dog people, we enjoyed that. They do not beg at all; they just chill out with you. We loved it! We had been in the area a few years prior and got amazing recommendations from Darrell for what to do around town. We also opted for their vineyard tour and learned a lot more than I had previously on other tours I have taken in the past. It's a true happy place for us now! This is a must stay for camping! Thank you Darrell and Gina!
Perfect stay for a weekend getaway
I booked Monarch Hill Vineyard for a 30th birthday celebration & included the self indulgence session. Darrell was super friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this location for anyone wanting to see Hawn State Park, Pickle Springs, or Ste. Genevieve, as all are within 30 minutes of the location. Tucked back & away from the crowds, you will certainly enjoy your stay here. BOOK THE SELF INDULGENCE.
Lovely stay for our four families
Gorgeous, private setting and a perfect setup for four groups staying together (though if you don’t know each other, do note that the sites are close together with little privacy). Be sure to note there is no running water immediately nearby, and no showers or toilet, so be ready to use a shovel!
Monarch Hill was such a lovely, idyllic camping spot! The views were fantastic, the little bit of tree cover in the center of camp was perfect for a hammock, the paths around the property were perfect for short explorations. And the camp hosts were super friendly and helpful. I definitely look forward to future camping weekends here!
Beautiful location and the four camp sites were perfect for our group of four families with small kids. The hosts were very friendly and made sure we had fire, ice (and even farm fresh eggs!)
Beautiful campsite and property!
First off, the campsite, the service, the host, the property--everything was just as we had hoped and we could not have asked for better weather when we stayed. Darrell was more than accommodating and made sure to attend to all our needs; we really appreciated him coming to greet us after he got off of work! That said, it might be wise to reserve when the campsites are not so busy. Our night was marred because of the other campers, most of whom were fine--but a few of them stayed up past 2 a.m. drinking and being very loud, playing the radio, and we asked them multiple times to quiet down. Obviously, this is not the fault of the host or the site at all! Just be aware that there are many vineyards/wineries nearby and other campers may be less prone to courtesy while under the influence. Beyond that, we hope to stay again. We have 5 kids and they absolutely loved roaming the property with a freedom they don't have in town. Without the disturbances, this site is peaceful and the view of the stars was exquisite! We heard coyotes howling and cows, otherwise, it would have been utterly peaceful. Darrell makes the primitive sites as workable and comfortable as could be wished. We had a very workable toilet situation, a large table made ready to use, the fire pit was perfect, and anything else we would need was there.
Darrell was very communicative on directions and prompt with answers to questions. Very nice and polite. The drive in is pretty and was easy to find. Drive slow up the hill to the campground. There are quite a few large humps in the path. Very scenic overlooking fields and orchard. The four sites are pretty close to one another and only two trees for hammocking but offered nice shade in the heat. Water is available just down the hill. Beautifully kept grounds with fire rings and firewood is available for a fee. I would definitely recommend staying here. If you have a large group, it’s worth renting out all four campsites.
