Some of the best camping I've ever done! Beautifully maintained sites that are thoughtfully created and creatively named. Had a hard time saying goodbye to the kittens. Cannot wait to come back again!
I'm not sure I could have had a better or more relaxing time at AVO. I was consistently impressed with the uniqueness & character of each site. As for my site, I was so surprised at how much space I had, far more than I had expected, & even though the grounds had only a handful of other campers I could see coming back in a busier time & not feeling like I am on top of other campers.
There were a bunch of trails that I feel like I only began to explore, & so many other things around the area that I didn't get to. Honestly, I chose to sit & read a book.
My dog was fascinated with chickens, ducks, goat, & kittens, & while Zelda (their dog) has a big bark, she is quite a sweetheart. The host's were beyond nice.
I have nothing but great things to say about AVO, & looking forward to returning by myself, with family, or as a middle ground with some of my friends for a great camping weekend.
We really enjoyed staying at Arcadia Valley Outdoors, which is conveniently located near Arcadia/Ironton. Our campsite was spacious with an excellent fire pit. The hosts are friendly and responsive to emails.
Our only suggestion for how to improve things is to get a water spigot/hose instead of a large jug of water for campers to hydrate.
Well constructed campground with several sites nestled in the trees providing privacy in naturally landscaped sites. Paths were lined with stones to each of our tent pads and then to a large central seating area with a fire pit. Our hosts, Michael and Sidney were accommodating offering veges from the garden and providing suggestions on nearby hiking and swimming options. We also enjoyed watching the resident kittens playing. I highly recommend this campground for comfort and convenience to hiking spots.
The campsites were really nice and well laid out, you weren’t too close to any of your neighbors. Of course, we were next to the group that decided to play techno music and speak to each other loudly half of the night, but that happens.
So glad I stumbled upon this little gem. Lovingly crafted camp sites blend in smoothly with the topography of the area and provide plenty of privacy. Construction of the sites was well planned and executed and the result is an 'in the woods' experience. Don't be surprised if you see a gnome or a faerie skittering by.
Bare bones: no hook ups or facilities, but who needs those when you can immerse in the calm, quiet atmosphere. I camped on a week night when there we no biking events happening at Sheppard Mtn......so that quiet could change if the grounds were full, but again, there is plenty of space. There is even a site with a yurt!...,,super cool and romantic with indoor comforts and outdoor tub.
Mike and Sydney are very sweet and helpful while allowing you your privacy. I loved it.
Always an amazing time!!!
We had the BEST time…unplugged and enjoying natures magic! Campsites are great with separate areas for tents and cooking! Lighted pathways…super awesome fire pit (the ability to prepay for wood for the weekend was great!!). Super clean potty areas and fresh water for washing hands is always appreciated 😉😍. Owners are super welcoming and nice and came to check in on us to see if we needed anything. They have adorable goats to pet…chickens that can provide you some fresh eggs to cook and I saw a shaggy pup around! Excellent time…excellent establishment. A+++
You can immediately tell a lot of thought and heart went in to this place! Hosts are extremely welcoming and have a passion for making people want to explore in the outdoors. 10/10 book this place!
