Begin your evening listening to Crooked Creek running over unusual rocks and geodes with whippoorwill and owl serenades; then gaze up at the Milky Way and as many star constellations as you can identify…wake up in the morning to the Pileated Woodpeckers drumming, barn swallows swooping and gold finches eating on tall wild grasses.  We are located approximately 1 hour south of Onondaga Cave; 1 hour north of Johnson Shut-ins and Elephant Rock State Park; 45 minutes southeast of Maramec Spring State Park (5th largest MO spring) and 30 minutes south of some of the best river kayaking and canoeing in Missouri (Steelville area).

Crooked Creek runs through our farm where primitive camping is available. Several camp sites are nestled on one of our pastures. If no threat of rain or the creeks not up, gravel bar camping is available.  Campers/RV camp sites can be accommodated if ground is dry (there are no electric outlets).

A grocery store and a convenience store w/fuel are 5 minutes away.  We have firewood for sale at $5/bundle.

I can arrange to play guitar and sing some songs you will surely recognize and enjoy (time and schedule permitting).

We enjoy the beauty of our peaceful organic farm nestled next to Mark Twain National Forest and trust that you will, too.

The only cell service that seems to work here is AT&T. There is free Wi-fi at the Casey's store about three miles from here.

Directions:

The hipcamp site will not allow me to use my full actual physical address, so here it is if you are using GPS:  1835 Iron County Road 3, Viburnum, MO 65566

As far as I know, AT&T is the only cell provider that works locally, and it can be spotty, but works well on our road and in town.

Less than two miles from where you exit Hwy. 49 (you may want to set your trip meter as it can seem farther than it really is), and after descending a fairly steep hill, you will see Crooked Creek on your left and some "No Trespassing" signs ahead.  When you pass these signs your camping area will be just to your right.

The opening in the fence line will be a little farther down the road, so you will be making a sort of U turn to get back to the campsites.

Welcome!

This was a very enjoyable camp. I spent two nights. Played some music, danced around the campfire, slept way later than intended. My only wish is that the vegetation on the fence was higher/ thicker, as everyone that comes down the road stares at you at your campsite. That was the only real detractor. Town is five minutes away, the creek is chill(wil's property is a bit up the creek from the access point, but afterr speaking to his neighbor leroy, i was okay to stay on the trail.)

Beautiful spot that gets you away from almost all of the world.

Wil has a nice open space with a nearby creek. The evening was filled with lightning bugs putting on a show.

The only gripe was no fault of the host. The campers at the neighboring site arrived very late, made a lot of noise and ruined what could have been a great weekend. We left because of them.

The two sites are close together, so cross your fingers for decent neighbors.

Please consider others when you decide to show up in the middle of the night.

This was our first experience using the HipCamp service and our stay here set the bar for future experiences! The property was beautiful and well maintained. Crooked Creek runs adjacent to the property and is perfect for exploring and cooling off on a hot day. It is very a peaceful place to camp with plenty of shade. Wil is an exceptional host. We called and ask to purchase fire food and he brought it down to the site promptly. We also got to meet his new puppy! We will be back in the fall as we are big star gazers and Wil's property is perfect place to sit back and take in the galaxy. Thanks Wil for sharing your slice paradise with us!

Stayed here for day hiking the Ozark Trail Middle Fork. Super convenient with the national park only 20 minutes away. Very quiet and peaceful at night...background noise was the creek running nearby and it was so relaxing. I would recommend bringing in some natural tick/flea repellant - I did and was very glad I did! Maybe bring in some firewood as well but Will also has fire wood for sale if you need it.

It was secluded and such a beautiful little site!! The compostable outhouse was a huge plus, and it felt comfortable and safe to stay there! The creek was fun to adventure in in the morning, and the little fire pit was awesome! Would totally come again :)
