You will be staying in a hand-built cozy and unique cabin on gorgeous rolling countryside, just south of Duluth. We expect that you are here to enjoy nature and respect our quiet and beautiful surroundings. BEST for sleeping TWO ADULTS. (not recommended for your kids!) You must be able to climb the steep permanent ladder to the loft. Remember that the building is not heated or set up for wattage that would include electric blankets or etc.! Bring appropriate cold-weather clothing when the nights are cooler! I also provide an extra quilt or blankets when the season is chillier... There is cross ventilation and fans for hot weather. Bring your own dog bed for the main floor and a leash and poop bags if you have a pup. ;)
Outside you have a deck with chairs, fire pit by the patio and table, trails around the pond and through the woods, yard games, and parking nearby. It is still "camping" except with a roof, walls, windows, lights, a wash basin, an outdoor hose/solar shower, a small fridge and small, clean chemical toilet inside. Intimate space, but there is a privacy door to the bathroom area. (Two more adults may be added for a small fee if they set up a tent outside the cabin, or in a PINCH, one cot will fit on the main floor.) There is also (spotty) cellular service (texting works fine) and WIFI. Everyone we have hosted so far have loved it, and we are proud of this space and doing our best to make you comfortable. Send us questions! We can also advise you about places to eat, things to do...
Please be aware that our property is Not ADA accessible, so PLEASE consider whether this is a good fit. Woods and Meadows Farm is NOT suitable for kids or people with disabilities at this time. Responsible teenagers under their parents' supervision are okay. Keep in mind the space is tight. One full-sized bed in the loft. Others would have to set up a tent or sleep on the floor downstairs. Outdoors away from your structure, there are communal spaces, such as the backyard, patio trails, dock, etc. There will be some farm noise, but should not interfere with your fun! Quiet hours are designed for your comfort as well as ours.
*Details WE need to know:
When you book: Send us a note and give us an estimated ETA, once you have a pretty good idea of the time so that we can also plan our day. -THANKS FOR THAT, IN ADVANCE! :) Ask us any questions. Tell us if you have a dog, so we can put Daisy (our friendly farm dog) and our free-range chickens away (if You have a dog) before you arrive. *Let us know if you don't want to see our dog at all, and we will put her inside during the time you are here. See more on dogs below.
*Please Read important details to consider that may affect your choice::
1) Our sleeping loft is AWESOME but has a steep ladder so is NOT safe those who are physically unable to climb, and is definitely NOT for children, and especially not babies! We love kids, but strongly discourage bringing them to this rental space. Sorry, kids are not a fit. 2) Our land, cabin and trails are not ADA accessible at this point. 3) No unregistered guests, we keep it simple. But-->There is a ton to do with your friends nearby in the state parks and in Duluth. 4) Well-behaved dogs that are leashed and house-trained are okay. (No barkers (please!) as we also have a B n B that is sometimes in use at our house. Bring your own kennel or dog bed for the main floor, NO dogs in the human bed! 5) This cabin is not a heated space but is very comfortable. We do provide clean bedding. Bring your sleeping bags for extra warmth at night if you think you need it. Weather may cause it to be warm in the loft in high summer, but we have fans on both levels, as well as cross-ventilation with screened windows that you can open and shut. 6) There is Not enough amperage for a space heater. 7) Open May through sometime in the Autumn (once it starts freezing regularly at night) 8) Social distancing from your hosts for everyone's safety, but we would love to visit with you a bit if you like. We use masks, and expect you to, when we are together. 9) Goes without saying, no indoor smoking, fireworks, or weapons/firearms. 10) No trail vehicles are allowed to be used on the property. -There are many official OTR trails nearby, and miles of bicycle trails, too. 11) Ask for help with fire if you need it, whether starting one in the patio fire pit or the grill. We can provide wood for cooking over the fire pit, or gas for the grill for a small fee. 12) Leave the place as nice as you find it. There is no poop ferry for the dogs, for instance. ;) Extra poop bags are available.
*Fire: Use of the sauna is not possible, for safety reasons. I guarantee that you will enjoy the experience of sleeping in the loft. (The sauna is used for custodial supplies and storage in the summer.) Smoking is allowed in certain areas Outside of the building; there are sand cans on the deck and patio. :) No open flames of any kind inside the building. The grill must NOT be used inside the cabin! (Absolutely NO FIREWORKS or FIREARMS allowed anywhere on the property.)
*Age and Liability: We want everyone to have a good time. For everyone's safety, all guests must be over 18, or over 21 if alcohol is present, except in the case of parents with their older teen or young adult children. We reserve the right to I.D. if there is any question. *People are advised to to think about their group's safety, as this is ultimately a family farm with some hazards, such as ponds, farm equipment, wild and domestic animals, etc. ;-) Take care, and be kind. Such a lovely, cozy space!! The cabin is adorable, the land is beautiful, and the hosts are wonderful. They always answer quickly and are very helpful with questions! We had a great time on our trip and would recommend visiting this cabin.

Well I won't be leaving a review,
And I can't exactly say what happened,
But Ann helped us have the best week of my life :>
Sweet little cabin hosted by a great couple! So many little touches to meet every need. Ann and Burnell went above and beyond to make sure we were warm and comfortable. Can't wait to stay at the new cabin in the future! So close to one of my favorite state parks for some hiking (and a hot shower) and a short drive to Duluth to hit up some breweries. Timing was perfect for a drive up to Lutsen for the beautiful fall colors. Thanks for sharing your beautiful land!
SO CUTE rustic cabin! LOVE their hospitality! I highly recommend this place!

I absolutely loved staying with my two small pooches at the Woods and Meadows Farm. Ann is an absolutely lovely host and she has a precise and perfect aesthetic in her creation of the "shed". It is an absolutely charming place and every aspect of it is carefully thought out. Daisy the border collie is a wonderful ambassador and seemed to take it as her job to stand guard at the shed and make sure all was okay for us. Jay Cooke State Park is very close by and it is a wonderful place to hike. I highly recommend this delightful pseudo camping experience.
This was my 2nd stay here and it won't be my last! What a charming little cabin. Ann is fantastic and you can tell how much thought has gone into every little detail.
We had the most amazing stay! The cabin is so cute and quaint and just enough! We thoroughly enjoyed having breakfast as an option and it was wonderful! Daisy is adorable and a wonderful addition to our experience! Highly recommend staying here!
This place was so lovely! It was exactly the dose of nature that I needed to recharge. And Ann was so sweet, kind, and welcoming! Everything was wonderful.
Woods and Meadows farm is pure delight! We enjoyed a wonderful walk around the property with Ann and Burnell, played fetch with Daisy the farm dog, and stayed snug and cozy in the loft when it rained. So many lovely touches--from the comfy swinging chair (perfect for reading) to the coffee and tea stand to a wide variety of dishes and utensils and a perfect bowl for washing. Ann and Burnell also had terrific recommendations for activities in the area. We hiked Jay Cooke and Park Point and listened to music on the pier at Glensheen mansion...always getting to return to our cozy, quiet idyll at Woods and Meadows. Highly recommend!!!
