We spent last weekend up at Norske camp with our dogs and 4 kids and had an amazing time!! With quarantine in effect it was just what we needed to get away. We brought our 16ft ice house trailer which fot just fine. The location was perfect, far enough from the cities but not too far. The site was perfect, Chris welcomed us when we got there and showed us around the property. There were bundles of wood and fire starter provided so that we could get our fire rocking right away. Chris also provides bottles of drinking water and supplies to wash our dishes! There is a really neat outhouse stocked with pine shavings and even had a light on a sensor that turned in when the door opened. The property was decked out with Norwegian flags and lawn decor. It was just perfect! The Paul Bunyan trail is right at the edge of the property so we brought our roller blades and my son brought his skateboard. I’d definitely recommend this place, we will be back! Thanks Chris for a wonderful weekend!

Wow, this site was everything that my roommates and I were looking for! We had an amazing time and had great communication with Chris. There was an outhouse that was as sanitary (if not more) as an outhouse can be. We were welcomed by the neighbors goat Evie, she wandered over to say hello and we couldn’t have been happier! Very secluded site with multiple seating options and a lot of space to set up a tent or multiple. We were able to go on a long walk along the Pail Bunyan Trail (right by the entrance if the site) one day and walked to a wetland nearby. We overall had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this site to everyone!
Norske Camp is fabulous! I was impressed by the extra amenities such as chairs and tables. The outhouse was super clean and even had scented pine cones so it smelled nice and fresh. I had a wonderful time and it was super easy to find and set up. Christoph was great a reaching out immediately for communication purposes.
The Norske Camp is a fantastic place with an equally fantastic host. Christoph made sure all our needs were taken care of. We spent time in both the cabin, and tenting outside. There are lots of flat spaces for tenting and the cabin is quaint. Christoph added some nice touches like a solar phone charger and little solar lights throughout the site for at night. There is some noise from the highway which is able to be heard in the campsite, particularly when in a tent. However, if you can look past that the Norske Camp is the perfect place for a party with some close friends or a nice quiet weekend getaway.
The site was replete with great places to sit near fire- a table with an umbrella, great rocker, a picnic table and a round table with stools. The composting toilet was great! Smelled like cedar chips and pine. Has an outdoor shower with hot water! Adjoining The Paul Bunyan hiking and bike trail. Great place for keeping bikes, private campsite. Clean. Stayed in tent but will be back to tent camp and try out the cabin, which was cozy but definitely wise space use.

Had the place to myself. Terrific proximity to the Paul Bunyan Trail. I appreciated the shower and available tables and chairs. Might feel a bit communal with others present. I'd stay again.
Great access to paul bunyon trail!
This was a great spot if you're looking to bike/hike the Paul Bunyon Trail. Easy access to the trail. Chris had many extras available - firewood, bug spray, seating, etc that were nice to have. This would be great a great spot for friends to use together.

It was exactly what we wanted and way more than we expected. We chose this location because it was on the Paul Bunyan rails to trail and centrally located on the trail. We camped in our 20 foot travel trailer and squeezed it into the site. Our plan was to use this camp for our base to explore parts of the trail for a day. We biked about 48 miles on the trail in our one day adventure. For all the rails to trails summer bikers and hikers this midway location provides many options for your trail adventures.
This little camping area is the epitome of off grid classic Minnesota north woods camping. It’s an eclectic collection of items assembled for a second or third life as a camping site. Combined with the two other families camping there, a number of options were showcased. We were off grid and self contained boondocking. One family had small children and took full advantage of the cabin as their base of operations for a weekend of fishing and hiking. Another family was camping overnight in tents as part of there family trip into northern MN.
It is very apparent Chris loves the Minnesota north woods camping life and he wants to make this experience available to everyone. Entering into the camp a person notices quickly all the little things provided to make the experience complete. There are smaller solar lights placed around the camp site that create a warm glow in a way that provides some lite where it is needed and simultaneously adds ambiance to the setting. Piles of kindling, bbq gills, a gas operated coffee maker, axes, fire wood, cooking tools, poison ivy, and many more items are provided to enhance your stay.
Chris has great customer service skills and a true passion for sharing this long standing traditional north woods simple lifestyle.

Thank you Steve for the great review. It was nice to talk to you about my passion and getting to know you and your wife. Hopefully, we will see you soon!
Excellent first experience using Hipcamp, with awesome host! This site is very well designed and equipped to make one feel welcome right away: firewood available, box with bug repellant and spray, Yardzee game, and bottled water--perfect touches to a campground. We had plenty of space to place 3 tents right next to each other alongside the parked old RV. There was also a cabin that is for rent, but no one used it while we were there, so we had the camp to ourselves, very peaceful! The main firepit was great, two out of my group used the camp shower area and said it was good, and the picnic tables were great, too. This will sound funny, but the composting toilet was a pleasant surprise--not only does it have a nice padded toilet seat, it also smells good in there (seriously)!! It's the best outdoor/camp outhouse I've ever used. There was a noticeable level of traffic noise during the day (didn't bother us, no big deal), but not in the evening/night. Christoph was not on site during our stay, but was always reachable and super friendly, checked in on our stay via messages and everything! We would happily return and camp here again!!

Thank you for the review, Michelle. We thought about how to present the composting toilet. It's a little more weekly maintenance, but the reviews are great! Please come back and stay soon!
