Be surrounded by nature while camping on a gorgeous, wooded property on Garden Lake near Ely, MN. Garden Lake is on the White Iron Chain of Lakes, and is connected to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) via Farm Lake and the Kawishiwi River. It is an easy canoe to the Kawishiwi River, but a permit is required to enter and stay in the BWCA. A permit can be obtained at the Kawishiwi Ranger Station in Ely. Enjoy the beautiful property while having the ability to use it as a take off point for a canoe trip into the BWCA!

Enjoy the abundance of wildlife in the area, including loons, deer, mink, fox, otters, red squirrels, bald eagles, moose, wolves, and black bears. Remember to bring a bear barrel for your food or store your food and garbage in your car or RV!

If you enjoy fishing, we have caught small mouth bass, northern pike, crappie, perch, and walleye from Garden Lake! Fish off the dock, the stoney point, or your own boat! The property includes a dock for one or two boats/canoes and boats can be launched from the Garden Lake public boat launch close by on Fernberg Road (Hwy 169). The dock is great for jumping off to go swimming, but please no head first diving. The lake was once a logging camp, so there are full tree trunks that float around under water in the lake. Please use caution when swimming and boating.

There is one 10x10 tent pad overlooking the bay side of the property. The end of the driveway also makes a great tent pad with room for a couple tents. There is a widened area midway down the driveway that is large enough for several tents or even a self-contained RV. This widened area is the designated RV parking area. There is no water or electricity on the property. Please use the portable toilet that will be provided. If you are using an RV, there is a dump station at the Ely Visitor Center. Black water and gray water tanks must never be discharged on this property. Please be respectful of the environment.

There is a picnic table on the property. There is also fire pit with seasoned wood available at the site. Be sure to fully extinguish any fire you have on the property before leaving. A bucket will be supplied by the fire ring for extinguishing fires with water from the lake. The number for the Morse Fall Lake Fire Department is 218-365-7060.

You can have your pets off-leash as long as they stay around the campsite and don’t venture onto the neighbors property. There are wolves in the area too, so keep an eye on your pets. You may be able to hear the wolves howling at night!

We do have neighbors in a cabin to the north and a cabin on the other side of the bay. The property lines are marked, so please be respectful of their property. Quiet hours are from 10:00pm until 8:00am.

Suggested items to bring:

1. Dry newspaper, lighter/matches, and kindling wood to help start a fire in the fire pit.

2. A flashlight.

3. Saw or hatchet to use if you want to cut up dead/downed firewood.

4. Bug spray.

5. Camp chairs.

6. Water for drinking. No potable water on site.

7. Trash bags for containing and transporting your garbage for proper disposal off of the property, at your expense. Please remember to store your garbage responsibly so we don’t attract bears or other critters.

There is cell service at the site, but it is minimal (1-2 bars).

Only a 15 minute drive to Ely where you will find fun restaurants, shops, galleries, the International Wolf Center, and the North American Bear Center. Drive down Fernberg Road away from Ely and you will be able to access the short hiking trail to Kawishiwi Falls.

We will let you know the details of getting to the property down Luc Road and how to know what driveway it is after the site is booked. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
