Don’t miss this beautiful location!
This place was breathtaking! The hosts were responsive, kind and extremely helpful! It was such a relaxing get away but yet close enough to town if you need anything. They have incredible visions they plan to add on and we can’t wait to go back again! They provided a toilet and an amazing firepit. It can be categorized as glamping with still giving you that raw outdoor camping experience! The fishing was great caught a few pike while we stayed. I would recommend this location to any and everyone! The hosts make you feel so welcome!
This spot was absolutely perfect for our stay during a long road trip. After staying one night I wish we had time for a longer stay. The site is beautifully set up and being next to the river was the perfect way to relax after a long drive. Timothy and Laura were amazing and so kind. I highly recommend staying here to anyone passing through or looking for a weekend get away.
Seclusion by the river
Timothy’s place is wonderful! It is a secluded place right next to the river. We enjoyed tea in rocking chairs on the deck watching the sunset. There is a nice cooking and eating area under an old silo, and a relaxing fire pit with more rocking chairs—he even provided the firewood. At night there were a lot of solar lights that have the place a warm, welcoming feel. They also guided the way to the port-a-potty without the need of a headlamp. In the morning we used their kayaks to paddle around on the river. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming! We would have stayed longer if we could have. As a bonus, we watched a painted turtle lay her eggs.
River deck relaxation
What a gem. Great campsite layout with a metal grain-bin roof shelter, very nice firepit, porto-potty, table and chairs, firewood chest, and a river deck. Tim was very kind and a great host. The kayaks are a great feature, along with that stunning view from the deck where I saw busy beavers, bald eagles, turtles, deer, tons of birds, and gorgeous sunsets. The area is tucked back out of sight from the house, and accessible from a cool windy road trail that I got in/out of easily with my minivan. Lots of wilderness trails to explore and Fairy Lake is a good swimming spot about 15min away by car.
Relaxing spot right off the highway
We had a great time at the Rusty Star Ranch! Unique spot on the river with awesome fire pit, rocking chairs, and deck overlooking the water. The water was low due to drought but the dogs still loved playing in it. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Only downside is the traffic noise from the highway. We’d definitely stay again!
What a wonderful whimsical experience! The wife and I got away from kids for an evening away for our anniversary. Tim and his wife met us briefly upon arriving and showed us around and welcomed us. We were very impressed by all the small touches and thoughtfulness they have put into the space. We kayaked down the river and watched the sunset and saw a beaver den that was very awesome. Spent the evening having a great fire and some music and dancing. Will definitely be back!! Next time will bring our boys and share the fun.
The hosts were just fantastic. They really care that you enjoy your stay there which is evident in the set up they provide - hammocks, shade area, chairs, bathroom, and a really nice fire pit. Our four kids loved swimming in the shallow water and everyone loved the deck looking out over the water. Easy drive from the cities to get there too.
