Blissful camp spot.
Wow, idilic in the most camping of terms. 3 spots well apart for ultimate privacy, nestled at a dead end of a driftless valley.
The peace and quiet is exceptional and the views were perfect. Highlight was having coffee by the creek and watching swallows skim the water... not a sound to be had! Highly recommend.
Jolene’s property was an absolute respit for our family, the perfect place to get away and enjoy beauty, quiet, and sweet family time. The campsite was as described and then some! We had a blast exploring the creek, reading around the campfire, playing ball in the open field, and looking at the stars at night. All of it felt like such a gift. Thanks, Jolene, for sharing your beautiful place with us! Your love for your land is evident all around it.
Creekside was a quiet, beautiful relaxing spot. We were in #2, there is only one other spot near us, and they were far enough away that it still felt quiet. The other place is very far away. They do have a barn next to #2 looks like it may be a small event center. They had a party during the day. Quite a few people and kids were playing in the creek. We were gone fishing for most of it. I don't mind the noise and kids playing, but if you are looking for solitude, I'd check on what's going on there before coming here. Other than that, the creek sounds are so relaxing. The firepits are a nice touch since it was windy while we were there. The host provided firewood for $5 and a firestarter. The portapotty was the cleanest I've ever seen in my life. The whole property was exceptionally well maintained. The Great River Bluff was a fantastic hike to the lookout, and 1/2 mile down the road is a perfectly maintained trout river that we caught nice size trout.
We absolutely loved our weekend visit to Jolene's ranch! The campsites are very well kept and are located in a secluded and serene location. Hearing the soothing sounds of the creek while having a campfire and stargazing were some of the highlights from our trip.
Also, it was very nice to have an electrical hookup for the teardrop trailer we rented (@renthappy). They provided an extension chord that allowed for easy hookup. We will definitely recommend it to our family and friends!
Serene and hypnotizing
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Jolene’s Ranch Retreat. The sound of the creek was relaxing and almost hypnotizing, especially to fall asleep and wake up to. The green, soft grass where the site was felt so good on our California feet (not much green grass or yards for that matter where we live). We did some exploring around the Great Bluffs State Park which is only about 15 minutes from her place as well. My little guy loved watching her cows graze. The water provided was nice and cold, which tasted wonderful as the weather was in the 80’s. I would definitely recommend this site to others! Thanks for a great weekend Jolene!
