Very beautiful place to camp right in the river bluffs. The sound of the creek at night was really relaxing and the property was very well kept. We were able to visit the cows and walk along the road to explore. Close drive to many great hikes. The site itself (Big Trout Creek) was not as private as the other two sites. It was in the open field near the pull barn. Close to the port-a potty so it was convenient for our kids. Port-a potty was a single stall and very clean. No grate for cooking over the fire provided. We used our camp stove.
This little spot is a true gem! You get the sound of a babbling creek and it is so lush and green. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it. We hope we can visit again someday!
Big Trout Creek is beautiful. We were very pleased with our campsite, the creek is beautiful, lots of birds flitting about. We never met Jolene, she was gone for the weekend. Our first night was splendid until 4am when a freak storm came in. By 11am it was flash flooding, our tents blew down and were floating in 6" of water. Then the water came down the bluff in a torrent of unbelievable force. We were then floating in foam and mud. We were frantic to get out trying to pack our stuff covered in mud, while lighting, thunder and torrential rains came down. The creek turned into a raging river. I was terrified. We hung out for hours, scared to leave, not knowing if it was safe to drive due to water rushing over the road. We did not stay a second night. I would book here again, but not this sight, it was the only one out of the 3 sites that was under water. The fact that the host was not on sight to help us was concerning and I will check to make sure someone is on sight if I book again.
