Pitch your tent at one of our 4 walk-in campsites on 60 acres of forest or hilltop prairie along Prairie Creek in Rice County, MN.  Explore the creeks, trails, forest, and our enormous granite "split rock."

NOW OPEN FOR SPRING 2022!  Remember, Remember: these spring nights still get cold; plan wisely for the weather.  Also, spring thaw and the much welcomed and needed rains means that trails and sites are prone to have a wee bit of mud and the scavengable firewood tends to be damp.

Enjoy fresh eggs from our small free range flock of chickens.

Our land abuts a 60 acre county park featuring a waterfall and more trails, including a single track mountain bike course.  That's 120 acres of exploring outside your tent; this campground truly offers a large amount of remote forest for recreation right on site.

Big Woods State Park is less than 2 miles away.  Faribault is 8 miles and Northfield is 9 miles from our driveway; they offer dining, boutiques, and all other amenities.  Nerstrand is 4.5 miles east and has a gas station and a fantastic meat market.  Numerous Cannon River put-ins are within 10 miles.

Vehicles: Our main parking area by sites 1, 2, & 3 is easily accessible.  The road to the secondary parking area beside site 4 is up a steep hill and can become difficult when it rains a lot.

Kids under 16 camping with their parents do not count in pricing.  Sites are priced for one tent, please let us know if you need to have more than one tent.  If you need to cancel or modify a booking, please reach out.  We try to be as accommodating as we can.

A map of the land is in the photos and shows locations of sites, parking and more.  All Sites are Walk-In!  We have a yellow cart you may use to haul gear in.

Site 1 is near the creek.  Approximately 200 feet from main parking area.  Stone fire ring and grill grate, picnic table.

Site 2 is in the pines.  Approximately 200 feet from main parking area.  Stone fire ring and grill grate, picnic table, this site has good hammock trees.

Site 3 is by the creek.  Approximately 300 feet from main parking area.  Steel fire ring, steel grill ring, picnic table, this site has good hammock trees.

Site 4 is on the hilltop.  Approximately 100 feet from the secondary parking area Steel fire ring with grill grate, stone fire ring, picnic tables, this site has good hammock trees.

This was my second time bringing my kids camping at Stephen’s land. We stayed at site #2 this year, which gave us plenty of space and privacy being surrounded by trees. There’s great stargazing here on a clear night, and the hike up to Split Rock for a packed lunch is a favorite with everyone. Highly recommend staying here!

Super awesome location and very clean and well maintained site/outhouse. We will definitely be back! We had plenty of space to hook our dog up on a runner in our site.

We did have issues finding Site 1 as we got there right as the sun set. Reflective numbers right at the main trail would be super helpful for the dark. I ended up walking almost all the way to site 3, then back to 2 before having to ask another camper if he knew where 1 was. I couldn’t even read the sign with my headlamp on.

It was fun to be in the woods and have some privacy versus being in a crowded campground! We also got to enjoy some colorful small hikes that the dogs enjoyed too :)

My 1st hipcamp experience. And it was amazing! This place is a hidden gem! Landscape was beautiful! Especially this time of year. Sites are great. I was in site 3 by the river. All 4 sites are good ones tho. Stephen was a fantastic host! Can't wait to go back! Highly recommend!

The grounds were very pretty! We showed up after dark but Stephen still came out and greeted us. The site wasn’t too hard to find thanks to the map and signs. Our campsite itself was fairly private, from our tent we couldn’t see our neighbors, but could hear them, so we didn’t feel isolated. There are a couple towns that are about a 15 minute drive away if you need something. All around a very good experience!

We had another wonderful trip! The trails to a from the campsites are whimsical. There is lots of easy access to different trails, which is perfect with a young child.
