Enjoy camping/lake at klammer's
We had a great time at Karl's camping area. The camping area is right in front of the lake. We arrived a bit late and had to settle for the backside area, so if you want to get the front spots (most likely 3 spots) then you'll have to reach there early. Luckily, it rained that night and the wind was a little gusty, and we were thankful that we got the backside spot between the trees.
The whole Klammer family were very warm and welcoming. We had a great time talking with Brian and Karl. The kids and the dog were great too. Thank you, Brian, for complementing the `amateur` burgers and hotdogs we prepared. It was also very interesting to know the Antarctica stories from Karl. They were prompt with any help we needed, we borrowed the grill, ladder and ropes to set up the tent tarps. The area is just a few miles away from Itasca State park and leech lake, so plenty of things to do around.
Karl and his dad were so friendly and accommodating! We had some bad weather over the weekend and they made sure we would be okay and checked back in the morning. Great location, beach, hosts and atmosphere. My daughter and dog both had a grand time. Would recommend!
Thanks Karl! We appreciate your willingness to help us find a spot when the winds picked up. Very friendly and very accommodating. Was nice to let the dogs play with the neighbor dogs in and out of the water. Great beach, wish the weather was better to appreciate it a little
Excellent rustic camping
Karl’s camp space is a rustic and lovely place to stay. The tent sites are decently sized and shaded; and most importantly right on the lake! Karl is a kind and attentive host, there when you need him, but also willing to let you do your own thing. Fire pits are provided, but bring your own firewood. There is a bathroom, but make note, there is no shower. You’re located just between Walker and Bemidji, so there are plenty of things to do in the area. Itasca State Park is 20-30 minutes away and offers great hiking and driving views. We will definitely camp here again!
Karl and brian rock!
Gorgeous Lake! Karl and his Dad (Brian) were amazing hosts. I absolutely loved it! Very happy with the stay. If you ride in on your bike, be careful of the deer and turtles!
Our family will be back.
Lake view campsite - near itasca
Tent camping on Karl’s land was great. Though there were awesome lake view spots, the wind was fairly high and Karl suggested pitching our tent in the hollow which was screened in by trees and brush. It was a PERFECT suggestion. We were well protected from the winds even when gusts got into the high 20s. Unfortunately, the wind made the water very choppy which meant we couldn’t take advantage of the canoe (too choppy for canoe). But we slept to the waves and the loons, woke up to eagles, and were able to catch a beautiful sunset. Indoor bathroom was a bonus, and Karl was an amazing host. Checked in on us a couple of times to make sure we didn’t need anything, then left us to our vacation. Was an easy drive to Itasca where we spent most of our days. We would absolutely stay here again.
It was a pleasant experience camping lakeside on Karl’s campsite. Him and his father greeted us when we arrived. We were able to park right next to our site that was right on the lake! Beautiful view. Karl provided us with a couple gallons of drinking water which was very nice and helpful! He also had a fire pit, picnic table and rake available at the site. The site does offer bathroom in a house next to the site, but it is “rustic” as other reviews mentioned. I wouldn’t rely too heavily on the bathroom accommodations, but it is there and working! I also recommend bringing bug spray/nets because the mosquitos were intense. The drive was about 12-15 from Walker which was nice too. Overall, it was a great camping experience. Thank you Karl!
It was a quick overnight stay! Karl was not there but answered all my questions even when we arrived late. We appreciated the stay and waking up to the beautiful lake.
