Such a WONDERFUL host!!! And such a great place for kids! My kids and I were in dire need of a getaway, so I had planned to stay for one night with my 4 yr old boy and 5 yr old girl, and we did not want to leave-seriously! We stayed for another night!
On our first night we ended up arriving much later than planned, and Jackie was SUPER flexible and understanding about it-exactly the kind of grace we needed. ♡ She was willing to help out with anything we needed/forgot, and even covered our tent with the rain cover when it stormed unexpectedly and while we were away at a nearby park! The goats are friendly and adorable, there were kittens running around, and all kinds of toads and frogs for the kids to find. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone with or without kids-this place could not be more accomodating!!! We DEFINITELY want to stay here again!
Jackie and her adorable farm were a gracious, warm welcome to us tired travelers! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a personalized sign welcoming us and Jackie promptly came out to say hello, handing us a thoughtful welcome bag of bottled water and granola bars! Gah! So sweet! She gave a thorough tour of the property, and helped us hook our camper van to the electric.
We ended up having a thunderstorm, and left earlier than expected, but would have loved to hang out in the hammocks and make friends with the goats… but maybe next time!
Goats and a kind & friendly host.
I was happy to find a safe place to sleep as I’m traveling solo Roth my dog and don’t know from one day to the next where I’ll land. Jackie was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. She had an extension cord ready so I didn’t have to get mine out to power my van. She offered water, snacks and the use of her bathroom. My dog was free to roam and explore. Other than several distant gunshots that frightened her, it was peaceful and quiet. A curious deer visited my camp early in the morning. Many thanks, Jackie!
We loved it!
We had an absolutely wonderful time. Our kids were totally enamored with the very talkative and friendly goats and the adorable, but somewhat private kitties. We saw toads, walked some trails, swung on the swing and had fun with the kiddie play features. Jackie and the other hosts were nothing short of wonderful: Kind, friendly, hospitable, accommodating, and super easy-going. They struck me as the kind of people we would be friends with if we lived nearby. This was our first Hipcamp experience, and they made us want to try it more. Heck, we’d go back to Five Acre Funny Farm again in a heartbeat!
Come visit the goats and kittens!
Jackie was a great hostess! There was a sign by the road welcoming me when I drove up! Her whole family was very kind and went out of their way to make sure I enjoyed my stay and had everything I needed. If I am ever anywhere near the area again, I would definitely drive out of my way to stay here!
Camping and goats
This was my first time camping and the first time for Jackie as a host. It was so nice to see a sign welcoming me as I drove up. I set up camp in the front "yard" since I wanted to test my skills as a newbie. She and her husband have 5 acres and have started paths to other areas. The goats were adorable as well as the grey barn cats that hung around.
There was no porta-potty and no fire pit except for a large one. So you would have to make your own. She has plans to make her place to have designated camping spots along a chipped wood path that has been started. I was close to many trails and the adorable downtown Elk River. I will be back!
