Round Mound Campsite is a secluded Tent / Dry RV site on the edge of a hardwood forest setting. Drive in access, (bumpy road), plus six miles of woodland hiking trails on property, maps provided. This campsite though close to highway access is quiet and secluded.  When the sky is clear, the  stars are fabulous.

Our Round Mound campsite is ideal for those looking for a quiet woodland setting, with a few comforts - a nice fireplace (with firewood), picnic table, outhouse, and fresh drinking water in Thermos jugs. This site is accessible by 2WD vehicles and pull behind campers. Please message us if you have questions on size limits and access road conditions.

There are plenty of woodland birds, deer, turkeys, raccoons and squirrels sharing the woods with you. At night it is common for owls to visit the campsite area to say hello, and coyotes talking in the distance. Hike the winding trails through 100 acres of woodland habitats, from old growth Maple to mixed hardwood, to dense brush, to the edges of open pastureland. Or bring your fat bike or mountain bike for an enjoyable ride

This property is part of a working pasture-based dairy farm and guided tours of the dairy and cattle are available when scheduling allows.

Children 12 and younger are free at our campsites. No need to be counted as guests , but please let us know when requesting to book.

We do not allow non-booked visitors to our campsites due to the secluded, remote location, and accessibility.

The owners take this seriously and have thought of EVERYTHING a for their guests’ comfort and enjoyment. I would call it “rustically luxurious.” We stayed in our 18ft travel trailer on the Round Mound site. Had a wonderful bonfire under an extremely starry sky. Our dogs were off-leash the whole time, and were in heaven. We were remote enough that there were no concerns that they would bother anyone. Couldn’t have asked for more.

The most important thing to say is Thank you! This was one of the most unique camping trips we have done.

Mike and Joan let us come watch milking time; that was really cool to see! After milking they feed the cows, and Mike and his son-in-law spent time answering questions and sharing their extensive knowledge with us! This was the favorite part for my aunt who grew up as a farm kid.

Joan allowed us to tag along when she fed the calves. That was very fun. She is also very knowledgeable and fun to talk to!

They care about their cows, and treat them really well. We woke this first morning and could see the herd grazing in the pasture next to the campground.

The Round Mound campsite was one of the cleanest campsites I have been to! Wood was available, a huge picnic table, a fire pit and a separate wood grill. There are so many thoughtful touches, like a clothes line.
It had a shady parking spot for a trailer and lots of both open and shaded space.

The bathroom has a compostable toilet. We weren't sure what to expect from the "outhouse", but it was spacious, extremely clean and had NO bad smells!

There are many trails on the property, we didn’t explore much this time due to rain, but we are definitely going to come back!

We had a great time. Campsite was well supplied with water, firewood and kindling. Had both a firepit and a grill. Grandchildren enjoyed seeing the farm animals during the day and hearing the wildlife at night. A very memorable stay.

Secluded, perfect for an overnight near the highway. They were able to accommodate our large 5th wheel with 50amp service. Clear driving instructions, and detail in the site description that there was no sewer/water hook up but didn't need it. Enjoyed seeing the milk barn as I grew up on a dairy farm. It brought back many memories. Not disappointed! Thanks for the hospitality!!

What a fantastic property. We have a truck camper and tucked in easily to the level tent/parking pad. There were so many amenities….5 gallons drinking water, wash up water, trash, recycling, firewood, dog bowls and miles and miles of groomed trails. We hiked 3 hours one day and 2.5 hours the next and didn’t repeat trails. The dogs could run and play. The outhouse was pretty fancy at the site but there’s one on the trails too. This would be a phenomenal fall foliage camping spot. We loved our stay and we’ll be back.

Best camping spot! Secluded and has all the amenities right at the spot. Mike had even put a small pool for our kids on a hot summer weekend. Amazing and welcoming hosts - made sure everything was perfect going above and beyond. Great trail system right on site. Kids loved seeing the cows too. Easy to get to Winona, La Crescent. Peaceful, amazing stargazing at night, great campire set up and separate wood burning stove/dining area with a swing. Outdoor water for washing at site and all the firewood you will need.

View from the mound. Great tree cover and open trails just outside the site. Beautiful cows. The site at night. To the right is the fire pit, just out of view on right is compost toilet. 32’ camper. Awesome fire pit.

Wonderful location, and super camp hosts. We stayed at Round Mound site. Communication was outstanding. Very private site, super clean and large outhouse. Very easy to navigate my 25’ trailer; turn around and no back in required where I parked. We hiked about 4 miles of their 6 or more miles of wooded trails. Loved the farm and the cows. Would we stay here again? Yes and Yes!
