Pitch your tent or park your camper in a private rustic space near Minneapolis. Enjoy Minnesota's natural beauty without a long drive from the city.

The property has been in our family for 70 years. We call it the Farm, but it currently has not animals and no crops. The 40 acre plot is surrounded on 3 sides by Sherburne State Forest, Park and Wildlife Refuge. It contains 15 acres of Norway and White Pine forest and 15 acres of hardwood forest. A main feature of the property is barn that was originally build by my dad. It has been used for dances (our wedding dance was there) and was our indoor basketball court as kids. It will make a great shared community resource. The land has a special place in Gail and my heart and we want to share its beauty with others. We are looking for campers that would enjoy the space and at the same time leave it better that when they came.

Lovely grass area with trees, level enough for our huge tent. We picked the behind the barn spot and were able to park right by our tent. Fire pit was filled with wood already and there's a bench to sit on. Outhouse was available a short ways down a nice path through the trees, our small children loved the "hike to the potty" before bed.
Because of the recent rain the ground was very soft and tent spikes slid in easily.

Campsite was large and flat. Big fireplace just gotta dig a pit. Doug ,being new to hipcamp, was very kind and accommodating. Very personable. We had a great time . The stars were gorgeous. We liked camping under the trees as well as being able to see the stars. Big plus, getaway but not far out from the cities.

I was charged for two nights only to be denied entry entrance into his land/camping area. I would’ve never even went to this campground had I received a response to my many emails discussing the fact that I had a vintage RV and it was having a few mechanical issues. When I got there the guy was completely judgmental very nosy and made it so uncomfortable and made me park on the side of the road in front of his garage/barn because he hadn’t made it clear that he only wanted tent camping at his property.
It wasn’t until the very last moment of being there that he informed me that he had been getting my emails and texts just didn’t read them and then temporary closed his campground so that I couldn’t book one more night in order to wait for a tow truck. He was nosy rude and when he left the property he came over and took a picture of my mechanics license plate as though we were definitely criminals on a mission to steal from him.He also let me know that he’s basically looking for people to come work at his property to clear up downed and dead trees and rehabilitate his rundown amenities. Very disrespectful very condescending and extremely unwelcoming. I believe I should be refunded my money since at no time did I ever woke up on his property other than to announce my arrival and check in to the public street. I guess you get what you pay for even if the guy himself makes websites.

I stayed at Doug's property for one night with a friend of mine. The location was easy to get to and near to a nice swimming area and state forest. They own 40 acres or so, with nice paths they maintain themselves. We were met with hospitality and friendliness throughout our visit. Be careful of poison ivy, which was rampant in certain parts of the property. Great site for a family or people new to camping.

Doug and his family were friendly, knowledgeable hosts. We camped in a private clearing under a giant oak close to the barn. - Just watch out for poison ivy in the woods! It is worth checking out the nearby Sand Dunes State Forest and Sherburne Wildlife Preserve, where we saw sandhill cranes, nesting swans, and tons of other birds/waterfowl.
