NOTES ON OUR RESPONSE TO COVID 19: How do we protect us, our employees and guests at the yurt. The yurts are disinfected and sanitized, swept out and cleaned between each reservation. That means the mattresses, pillows, all surfaces, outhhouse and sauna are disinfected. At this time, we also ask guests to bring their own sleeping bags and towels. We provide water in a refillable coleman cooler. Extra water in 5 gallon jugs to refill the Coleman water cooler; paper plates and cups and plastic utensils, sanitized pillow and mattress covers. All for the safety of our guests. Then we leave the yurts for 24 hours before another guests checks in. We wear masks and practice social distancing when showing the guests how to use the yurts.

We had a great time! I am not much of a camper so compromised with my husband to do the yurt stay. It was perfect for us because there was very little we needed to bring. We brought our dogs and they also had a blast. It was the perfect time of year because it was a little cold but toasty inside with the wood stove and we made a lot of campfires with s’mores!

The Tall Pines Yurt has everything you need for a nice, rustic, quiet getaway with friends or family. The bunk beds have thick, comfortable mattresses, the yurt has a fully functioning stove and oven, the wood burning stove kept us nice and warm… the yurt is right on a small, quiet lake that has a (somewhat tricky to spot!) access point to a portage to the BWCA and is near all of the wonderful hikes and thrills of the GFT. We didn’t use the sauna (which I am sad about!) but it is CUTE. This yurt isn’t fancy and it’s not quite glamping, if that’s what you’re looking for, but it is a fantastic way to get some quality time in with the GFT and the north woods. We had a great time and Barbara was a wonderful host.

We enjoyed our stay. Our standard Toyota Highlander wasn't quite enough to make it all the way to the yurt, but Barbara helped us by transporting our things for us. And then it was only a 5-minute walk back to the vehicle whenever we wanted to access it. The wood fired sauna is incredible. This was a late May stay. I'm looking forward to returning in other seasons.
We had a lovely stay at the Tall Pines Yurt! It's very secluded, next to a cute little lake/pond. Our dogs had a great time too :) Our hosts, Barbara and Ted, were fantastic! Highly recommend!

Thank you so much for staying at Tall Pines yurt for your honeymoon. Your dogs were so nice too. Thank you for leaving the yurt in good shape. Best wishes to you.
The Tall Pines Yurt is a hidden gem off the Gunflint Trail! Tucked back in the woods, this was the perfect place of solitude and escape. The yurt was very comfortable and spacious, and the canoe on the bog was a treat to enjoy! This is a lovely place to visit if you're looking to fully unplug from life for a few days.

The drive was gorgeous, the directions they gave were perfect since GPS is a bit tough to get close to their B&B.
Barbara was a great host and checked us in quickly and provided ski passes that the DNR can inspect($6).
The yurt was fantastic. Their groundskeeper had warmed it up for us before we got there. We followed him down the snowmobile trail to the yurt, maybe a 20 minutes of skiing to get there. He showed us how the lights, fire heater and stove worked, pointed out the sauna and outhouse and recommended not walking on the lake which was a little path away from our yurt.
Everything was perfect. They provded sleeping bags and sleeping bag liners & pillows. Pots and pans and plate & utensils as well.
They showed us which trails were groomed so we could ski and it was a breathtaking and unforgettable experience.
We will definitely be back.
Our group loved Tall Pines Yurt! Check-in was amazingly easy and laid back. The perfect relaxing weekend!

So glad you enjoyed your yurt stay. The dogs are so cute. Roasting marshmallows is a perfect thing to do at the yurt. Learning to use a wood stove may come in handy on another adventure. Thank you for staying at Tall Pines. Regards, Barbara Young
