It's hard to believe you're in the city of Duluth when camped here at Listening Point. This campsite is surrounded by a beautiful forest on every side. The popup trailer is perched on one of the highest points of the property, and through the trees the vista is splendid. Inside the camper you'll find almost all the comforts of home. On one end is a spacious king size bed and the other end has a full size bed. The table folds down to a single bed. Be sure to bring sleeping bags or your own bedding. The table seats four comfortably and a  propane heater will keep everyone toasty on the cooler nights in Duluth. The kitchen is typical of a camper with a three-burner stove, small electric refrigerator, and sink for washing dishes. We'll leave a stainless steel container of drinking water on the counter. The outhouse is just a short walk down the main road.

Staying with Chris and Linda was beyond what I expected. These two have created a truly welcoming space and taken so much care to make it as comfortable as possible. We were greeted with big smiles and shown our camper down the gorgeously lit path (just a minutes walk from parking) in their forest of a "backyard". The camper was already toasty warm for us as we arrived on a cold night. Tea and coffee were available, as well as a full kitchen basically. All we needed were the sleeping bags we brought. We kept the place toasty and ended up running out of propane late on the first night/early mornjng but they were quick to come out and fix everything, and even re stocked us again so there wasn't a chance of it happening the second night. Communicate could not have been quicker or more positive. Even the outhouse provided is very comfortable and close. I really could not see how our stay could have gone any better, and these two were so helpful yet respected our privacy. Another bonus is this forest getaway is just a couple minutes from any major spot in Duluth, it feels like you're camping in a forest but every attraction from trails, breweries, the canal, and restaurants are really 10 minutes away. I will be staying here every time I visit Duluth.

Hartley Nature Center is just a few minutes away with some Superior Hiking Trail paths and gorgeous fall colors to view.Very nice lit paths and lighting all around the camper, with a nice patio to boot!

Chris and Linda were the ideal hosts.

They were very proactive reaching out to coordinate our arrival, and ensure our welcome was, well...very welcoming

The entire grounds were magical and elaborate and perfect. We arrived at night and were welcomed with strings of white lights outlining our parking lot, walkways and patio grounds, it was incredible.

Chris and Linda met us at the parking lot and made sure we had everything we needed before they left us to settle in for the night.

The camper was perfect, the spot was great and the outhouse was fantastic as well...

Everything was 10 minutes away! If you’re looking for a spot in nature just close enough to town, you can’t beat this spot ❤️

We stayed at the Listening Point our second night and loved it. It was a cozy little camper with a nice heater that kept us warm all night. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen (stove, sink, and table) came in extremely handy. Our plan before arriving was to go to a few hiking spots in Duluth, but after arriving to this beautiful campground we soon realized we didn’t even need to leave! The campground lead us on so many great adventures and we were never bored. There’s cute white lights up all around the campground, a pond to row a little boat in, trails to hike, fire pits with LOTS of wood and even more activities that you guys will have to find out about. The property was very unique, everything was well tended to and just more than I imagined! The location of the property was also great and close to gas stations if a late night trip was needed. The hosts were super helpful and kind. They made our stay even better! I could tell there was a lot of time, effort, and love spent into making the Balsam Ridge Retreat a success. Thanks Linda and Chris :)

This was an amazing experience! Linda reached out several times before our arrival to make sure it was a smooth process. She gave clear directions to Balsam Ridge Retreat. We were greeted in the parking area on arrival with a huge smile! We were shown the camper (Listening Point) and provided a wagon to carry up our supplies. The camper had cooking supplies and utensils, water provided, a heater if you need it, plenty of room, and outside is a fire ring. You will need your own sleeping bags or linens. Beautiful paths are throughout the property and strings of lights in the evenings which gives a cool vibe. The "Stool Shed" is nice and well maintained. Where else will you find an outhouse with decor! You are in the woods, but close to Duluth. There are hiking trails on the property that are worth your time to explore. They have cleared trails constructed walkways through the trails. Most everything was closed during our stay, but Linda and Chris gave us tips on other things we could do and the state parks were still open for day use. They even know the area so well they gave us great places to stop along our way to the North Shore and then to Voyageurs National Park. They even had a book of maps we were able to explore of Voyageurs along with great stories from Chris! They have constructed a large wing that you must try. It is amazing and safe! This was our first Hipcamp experience and Linda and Chris hit it out of the park! This was our first stop on our vacation traveling throughout Minnesota and without their suggestions on places to stop and things to see, it would have been just ordinary instead of extraordinary. You guys rock! Shout out from Texas!

Linda and Chris are so so so friendly, welcoming and I couldn’t have asked for a better set of hosts to host us, they are the true definition of Minnesota nice. Not only is their property absolutely beautiful but it feels secluded and still allows you to reach any part of Duluth or north shore in a short amount of time. I highly recommend staying at any of their many camping sites on their property. My husband and I are so happy we chose to stay there and we will definitely be back soon!
