Linda’s property is forest so as you relax in front of the tent you are surrounded by birdsong and the murmur of leaves. Linda has thought of every contingency. There is water inside and outside the tent, a fan if it gets hot, a wood stove, soap and towels. The site is beautiful and carefully curated. Linda and Chris are supremely welcoming and wonderful hosts. There are welcoming communal areas with comfy chais, a screened gazebo-type area, and a pond surrounded by wildflowers.
Linda is amazing and puts love into everything she touches. The energy here is magical. You will make memories here!
This is a great place to stay when visiting Duluth or as a stop on your way up to the north shore. Chris and Linda are fantastic hosts and are obviously passionate about meeting people and sharing their space.
Anyone who’s stayed at Balsam Ridge Retreat knows what a magical place it is - all the extras Linda and Chris have done to make glamping as comfortable as possible. This visit was no exception. The weather outside wasn’t terrific, but inside the Stuga(we switched from Danny’s Tent due to a cancellation), it was oh so cozy. Thanks for another wonderful visit to the North Shore.
Really loved our stay at Balsam Ridge! We stayed in March and it was a cold weekend. We stayed warm and cozy in Dann’y tent. Balsam Ridge offered sleds and snow shoes for use. There are hiking trails right off the property in addition to there being plenty to explore right on the property. There is a small pound you can sometimes skate on in the winter and a couple fun swings to enjoy as well. Balsam Ridge was a winter wonderland and made for a perfect winter trip.
We were absolutely blown away by this place. Linda and Chris greeted us with such generosity of spirit and kindness and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was incredible. They're truly some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They gave us a tour of the picturesque grounds and checked in about the temperature in our cabin, making sure we were staying warm. We made use of the sledding run, the ice rink, and the three wooden swings spread out around the property. This was the perfect winter getaway and we can't wait to come back to see what the summer experience is like.
I needed a place to go and reflect, ask myself some big questions and rest for a few days. Chris and Linda delivered that and more. They were incredibly welcoming and kind and their retreat is pure magic. As soon as I started walking down the trail to the tent I felt my shoulders relax and a sense of peace came over me.
The tent is a wonderful winter retreat if you are up for tending the wood burning stove. The bed is heated as well!
Within an hour of being there I was already planning my return...and who I was going to bring with me.
I can't recommend this place highly enough! Thank you Linda & Chris!!
Perfect stay for us at Dannys tent. Very much enjoy the wood burning stove on those cold nights. And the comfy bed!
Thank you to Chris and Linda for making it such a nice experience!
