Whitetail Sanctuary

Was great staying here, hosts communicated quickly so we were able to confirm day of. Down the road from the lake, a nice quiet place to spend time outside. Hosts were super friendly and helpful.

Cheryl and her husband Jim were the perfect hosts! Helpful in every way. The campsites are basically an extension of their front yard, with large pine trees providing privacy and shade. Jim is an excellent tour guide and showed me all the spots I should go for water time, mountain biking and even checking out their local ski hill! Mount Bohemia, with offices and even the ski patrol hut in yurts! They also had a steam room, hot tub and lap pool for summertime fun! Cheryl is the sweetest host, and if you’re lucky, they might take you beach combing for agates! Best day of my trip!

I cannot say enough how amazing Cheryl and Jim and their site is. It is beautiful, scenic, well maintained with great facilities: fire ring and port o John.

The site is located centrally within the Keewenaw so you can explore all parts of the peninsula easily.

I pick places for stargazing as well and this one is hands down the best I’ve been to. Even better than Lake Powell in Utah. I saw the full span of the Milky Way in great detail. And the Perseid meteor shower was amazing

And Cheryl and her husband Jim are two of the warmest kindest hosts and people you will ever meet. You need to check this place out.

Paradise in upper peninsula!
This was one of my best hip camp experiences! My dog and I had a blast! I can't wait to go back! The night sky and the view of the sunset was everything I could ask for!

Very nice place peaceful

It was a beautiful campsite. It was so peaceful there and unlike any other camping experience I've ever had. Our hosts were so kind by providing us with a brochure for activities in the area, giving us directions to the waterfalls nearby, and even gave us fresh eggs for our breakfast (they were the best tasting eggs I think I've ever had.) I would recommend anyone needing a place to stay in the area to stay there. Thank you so much, Cheryl!

Secluded, quiet, forested country setting but a short drive to everything you need. The owners of the property were perfect hosts freindly and accommodating, but not in the least bit overbearing. The parking is on grass but we were as level as it would be on a well made slab. More than a name the deer were frequent visitors, edging along the tree line and down the road. If you like car camping or rv-ing but dont like campground crowds you will appreciate this.

We were at Whitetail for over a week and they treated us like family! Warm, welcoming, helpful. Highlights:
* Our 3 dog formed a pack with their dog and ran around the property.
* They pointed us to a true Finnish sauna experience, which was amazing.
* They helped us out when our water and solar power both ran low.

Clean, beautiful site. Nice people. Highly recommended.

What can we say.... our stay at Whitetail Deer sanctuary was amazing! Right from the start, the correspondence was great. Cheryl was always available with any questions we had leading up to the trip, even offering us traveling tips on the way into town. Once we arrived, she and her husband Jim were so helpful. Set up was a breeze with a beautiful location! They gave us more pointers for the area for our day of adventure on the Keweenaw Pen. Thanks so much for such a wonderful time and we look forward to staying here again when we get back to the area.
