Just a brief drive from cities like Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek, The Stickley Family Farm is the perfect rustic escape to pitch your tent, cook over a fire pit, and gaze at the stars far away from the city lights.

While camping and exploring the 20 acres of fields and woods, you're only 1.5 miles from downtown Colon, MI, the "Magic Capital of the World". Right downtown there is a great bar, pizza parlor, restaurants, and theatres featuring live magic shows! As if that's not enough, Colon is a unique town set directly between two large lakes connected by bridge which offer incredible fishing, kayaking, public boat launches, and docks waiting for you to explore.

Depending on when you visit, you may even have a chance to watch the owners as they work the farm.

The sites are currently rustic with no running water or facilities, but in time that will be changing.

This was the perfect spot for a road tripper like me. I didn’t need a campground or activities or anything like that, just a place to set up camp for a few days. The host was super friendly and showed me to my spot and was otherwise out of my hair. I was provided with plenty of firewood too. It’s in a good location not too far from a dollar store and gas stations and such.

The Rustic Farm Camp was perfect for our needs. The drive into the site is along side a farm field. The driveway path was smooth and easy to navigate. The campsite is on the edge of a farm field with a small clearing into the woods. The clearing was large enough for our 10x14 tent and 12x12 screen shelter. A fire ring and picnic table were provided.
We needed a primitive campsite to orient our dogs to primitive camping. The site was perfect with seclusion provided by trees, bushes and undergrowth which provided our dogs boundaries. Several raspberry bushes surrounding the site - not quite ripe for eating yet. No power or water at the campsite but there was plenty of sun for recharging for solar powered items. I would book this site again and would recommend to friends.

Excellent location for a very private camping experience. We were able to back your 30' trailer into the spot with no problem. It was firm and level. Plenty of width to work around the trailer and still have a camp cooking area. There was a "secondary " site that contained the firepit where we placed out day shelter.

This is a quiet location, very private. Great for sunbathing if you so desire. We dry camped, brought our own water and had a generator for use. Unfortunately, several severe storms shortened our planned visit by a day. We will definitely be back.

Its probably a 3-4 min drive to a modern family dollar and also a gas station for bathroom and snack needs.
Didn't meet the host but a ample supply of wood was situated at camp.

The campsite was decent and level but uneven. very short walk from where you can park to the site. Very sunny during the day with very little shade. Keith's directions are perfect and he was very friendly. I would recommend to someone else.

Keith's site is wonderful. The markers and lights made finding it a breeze. Very private, I couldn't see any buildings from our pit and table. From where the road ends it was maybe 100' walk to the clearing. We heard the occasional car in the distance, but overall peaceful. Good stargazing when compared with the city.

A nice relaxing time at a rustic/boondocking site.

Our family wanted a bare-bones campsite at the last minute to go to Colon, the Magic Capital of the World.

We found the reflectors marking the driveway pretty easy off Wattles road, and followed the road back to the site, our small trailer behind us. The site is really nice right on the edge of a field and woods and has a picnic table and fire ring. If you are camping in a tent, the clearing is really nice. We had the trailer so we parked just outside the clearing. There isn't any power or water, but we only stayed for one night, and are self-contained. We aren't really hikers or anything, we just wanted to relax at the site, and go downtown for the show, and this was perfect.

The best thing about this site is the location. You're totally isolated in the middle of nowhere, but you're also a 3-minute drive to Dollar General and downtown Colon which is a GREAT little town. We had dinner at Five Star Pizza which was awesome and then went to the Sterlini Magic Theater, but there was a music show, not a magic show. It was still a great time! Afterward we headed back to the site, and had drinks by the fire.

We will definitely come back and camp here for a quick and cheap getaway. Colon is a great town, and next time we are going to bring our kayaks to explore Palmer Lake which is actually right downtown. I've never been to a place where I could camp in the middle of nowhere, but also see a live show and have a great lake to play on all so close!

What a great spot!

I think we were the first guests at Stickley Family Farms campsite. The location is only a mile from downtown Colon, Michigan, the magicians "capital" of the world! We wanted na quick camping experience, but being the spring, we wanted to be able to go out to eat and meet up with some friends, so this was perfect.

The campsite is on the edge of woods and a field, and is nice and secluded. There are reflective markers from the road showing you where to drive right up to the site.

The site is mainly for tent camping, but the hosts have no problem with having us in our small camper (18'), and there was plenty of room to park it right at the campsite clearing with the fire ring. We requested some extra firewood from the hosts when we booked the site and it was waiting there at the firing for us when we arrived, along with two bottles of old-fashioned soda-pop that is made by the local pizza shop in town - a fun touch!

There are TONS of deer and rabbits around here and they come in very close to the site in the morning and at dusk.

When we were there, the hosts were dealing with a contractor who's helping them re-build an outhouse, so while you currently have primitive-only camping, it looks like there will be facilities soon for those who are not self-contained like us.

We will definitely be staying again, and after talking to the farmer about what they plan on developing in the future, Stickley Family Farms is going to be a great spot for visiting for the day and camping at night!
