The property is 40 acres surrounded by national forest. It is off a paved road and then 1/2 mile down a seasonal Forest Service road to a locked gate. It has about 1320 feet of the West Branch or Big Creek running through it. There is a 1940's fishing lodge where the owners stay. The campsite has it's own picnic table, fire ring and firewood for your use, but there is room for 3 or 4 tents. To insure privacy I only allow 1 group at a time. Bring your pole since there are brook and brown trout in the creek. Along the creek is a hiking path that follows the creek and leads to a beaver dam. On a clear moonless night you can see a billion star, yes really. Although ORV's are not to be ridden on the property there are a couple hundred miles of 50" and motorcycle trails just outside of our gate.  It is also 1/2 mile off the MI shore to shore horse riding trail. No hunting, shooting, or fireworks allowed on the property. Depending on the time of the year, don't forget bug spray. Verizon cellular service works on the property, but other cellular services might not.

We had a great time camping here. The place is very big, private and very quiet with a few different areas to choose from. The hosts were very nice and even gave us some salt when we forgot ours. They also gave us a ride with our kayaks to the river and invited us to church on Sunday. Definitely would recommend staying here. The campsites aren't directly on the river but they are just a short walk away and the property is very beautiful. Great for bird lovers.

This site was amazing! There was lots of space to spread out and explore. Tim had two chairs set up by the trailhead overlooking the forest which was a nice touch. There is a very short trail on the property and nice views on the dock. This site was a perfectly tucked away from the main road to feel secluded, but close enough to a gas station and grocery store to grab some last minute essentials (about 10 minutes). Great spot!

Tim's property is remote, quiet, and exactly what we were looking for. Had not camped in this area before and now I can't wait to come back! The area for camping is large enough for multiple tents and a canopy and includes a large picnic table near the fire ring (Daughter's fiancé cooked the best meals on the open fire!). Trail leads to the beaver slide and can see where they are working on another tree to take to the dam. The river is beautiful, natural, and we enjoyed some lazy time fishing for brown trout...nothing big enough to keep but fun still! Do hear a little noise from the ORV trails that are close by but nothing that takes away from your stay. My family definitely plans on doing a return trip! Thank you Tim for sharing!

Great place, very quiet and remote, well laid out and easy to find. Tim was a great host and replied to messages very quickly. The property is beautiful, so very peaceful.

I look forward to returning again. Thanks Tim!

Tim was quick to answer any questions and checked in to make sure we arrived OK. This is a well kept property just off a short drive out of town down a forest service road. It was supremely quiet with only the distant noise of occasional ORVs and planes (good place to use a flight radar). Plenty of space to spread out around the campsite. Plenty of areas marked with signs around the property to explore. The pit latrine was clean and adequate for any immediate needs.

The creek was great and well cleared for wandering and swimming. Very great views in each direction as the creek is at the bottom of a short hill.

Plenty of trails to wander and a big hill to bike down.

Great spot for a couple of tents or a small camper. Nice flat area along a sandy hill running to the brook below. Adjacent to ORV trails and public lands but no noise during the time we were there (Memorial Day weekend). We had one night of moderate rain with no drainage or runoff issues. Nice firepit and picnic table. We used this as our home base for hiking in the area (Mio, Grayling, West Branch and points in between). Great communication with the owner with easy access by locked gate. There is another building on site (the fishing lodge, which was not in use while we were here) but it is removed enough for the campsite to feel private. Private, serene and low-stress way to enjoy the Au Sable area.
