Paddling

Very near the Muskegon River and many small lakes. Our trout stream is too small for canoes or kayaks.

Good swimming in the Muskegon River nearby. I am constructing a natural swimming pond in the spring of 2018.

My siblings and I have made it a tradition to go camping at Robert’s property once a year now! We stayed at a different site on the property last year, and both sites we’ve stayed at have been lovely.
This one was by the stream and it was nice to listen to at night. It was closer to another campsite (the teepee) than we realized, but actually that worked out okay for us, we got along great with our camp neighbors.
You do have to cross two little makeshift bridges over the stream to get up to the bathrooms so that was a little sketchy and night but it kind of added to the adventure 😂

We LOVE Robert’s property, the guys enjoyed playing chess inside the amazing library, I loved hanging out in the woods and meeting all the chickens. We also enjoyed wandering the gardens, there were monarch butterflies hatching while we were there!

It’s really nice having access to bathrooms and the showers are actually pretty nice.

Everyone working there is very kind and helpful.

Can’t wait to visit again next summer!

Do NOT judge a book by its cover! Our initial first thought was to just cancel our reservation. But after hiking into our camp we realized how beautiful this place really is that you can’t see from standing on the road. Robert has a slice of Heaven out there, he allows you into his home, and provides showers and flushable toilets. It’s such a nice plot of land, we will definitely be going back for a longer stay. We stayed at the mystic river lot, you can hear it run all night long. Thanks Robert, we will be back for many years to come!

Camping here was an awesome experience! Such a peaceful campsite by a stream on the edge of the woods. Robert is such a cool guy! The atmosphere he has curated is so friendly and welcoming. The property design is so unique, plus having access to all the amenities is really nice after a day on the trails and smelling like firewood. Robert's artistic skill is showcased around every turn and it's truly unbelievable. We can't wait to return in the future to check out more of the property and the surrounding parks.

This is a truly unique and magical place. Robert has curated an experience for you. You should check it out!

There’s so much here…we nicknamed one of the hikes, “The Spirited Away Hike”. The kids really enjoyed playing in the Japanese garden and watching the chickens. The library is absurd, in a good way.
Our site was #2 and you cross a little “bridge” to reach it. I would not recommend this site if you have a baby and a blind dog, but hey, we really liked it. I don’t think the bigger kids will ever forget it.
Also, bring stuff to make pizza! There’s a wood fire pizza oven.

We will be back!

A beatiful, smallish spot by an absolutely gorgeous stream. The tipi is right across the stream, so a smart move is to rent out both to have this corner of the property all to your group. Super friendly host, the main house is accessible and truly a museum of curiosities.

I have saved this site for a few years on Hipcamp and finally went there this Memorial Day weekend!
It was beyond beautiful and I loved everything about it!
Rob is a one of kind amazing human being.
The whole weekend was just such a great experience.
Camped out in the rustic Wilderness site, just a trail away from Robs home. The small hike is through the woods and ferns, over 2 small bridges.
I loved having the shower/bathrooms to use up by “base camp”. Did 2 day mountain bike trips to The Dragon and then chilled by campfire at night.
There’s just so much I could write! I’ll leave some to be discovered by those that get the honor of staying there.
Would Definitely return. Would like to try all the unique cute lodging areas (cabin, garden rooms, and the Teepee!).
If you’re wondering if you will enjoy this, take my word for it. You will!

Pizza oven… Ben (the ever so friendly helpful gentleman!) showing how to really get the fire started inside. So much fun. Wilderness Stream MagicWilderness Stream Magic

Roberts property is magical!!! The cabin is rustic, With no electricity or water. It is very charming and comfortable. There was plenty of room for all 3 members of our group. Everything is in moderate proximity to each other while offering some privacy. We were not comfortable bathing on the porch but did have some laughs taking prop pictures. The bathrooms were nice and clean, just a short walk away. Offering hot showers! Robert has a beautiful home with a very interesting library , waiting to be explored. The kitchen in the main house has all the things you will need , including a coffee pot and a place to clean your dishes. Firewood is provided and we enjoyed having a fire both nights we were there. There is also a hiking trail right outside the back door of the cabin, be sure to bring bug spray. Robert’s gardens are beautiful and well crafted. It was a wonderful weekend and I would recommend for all.
