If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We came in late to our campsite and Evan still made it a point to say hello and show us to our campsite. We came in at a time where you could see the Aurora borealis. Which was magical and the best place to be. The campsite was beautiful and very well maintained. The composting toilet was a very clean and beautifully made. There are two very adorable cows and chickens that live there too. We will definitely be back.
Evan is a very welcoming host he meets you as you show up and makes sure you find your spot with ease. His land is quiet and relaxing. He even shared with us a guide he made up of favorite spots around the area!
We loved our stay at this property. Evan escorted us to the site when we arrived and couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. Privacy and quiet and fresh-baked bread. What more could we ask for!
I thought this was a great camping location. The site included a picturesque lake, 15 year old white pines, blueberries, nice picnic tables, and was off the well traveled path. It's also fairly centrally located in the Keweenaw Peninsula and allows convenient access to Lake Superior beaches. The homestead has a impressive collection of ~ 1900 dovetail construction log buildings along with a few farm animals.
Wonderful host and beautiful views!
Evan was beyond flexible and understanding with our last minute addition of guests to our trip and even took the time to help us switch to a different site that would be more comfortable for our group!
In addition to the wonderful hospitality and kindness shown - the large pond and open night sky were perfect for a beautiful stay at this property! You can even see Lake Superior from the parking lot!
The outhouse was also very well maintained and one of the most comfortable and clean ones I've seen / used on a camping trip!
This was also not far from beaches ( 5 / 10 min was the closest ) and about 20 min from Houghton that had a Wal - Mart and nice waterfront parks! Chutes and Ladders Park is right on the water and can see great views from the top of the playground before going down the slide!
( My Fiancee and I are 30 and this is a better fit for kids but the view and ride down the slide were worth it! :) )
Thanks for a great time Evan! Would recommend! :)
This was the first time I used Hipcamp and it was the best experience!! Evan’s land was beautiful and he certainly takes the time to create the perfect camp sites. He even cut some dead branches off a tree so I could put up a hammock. Firewood was delivered to my site. Wildflowers surrounded the property. I wandered the land and checked out the other campsites. All were very private with picnic tables and fire pits. Site 3 has the most open view of the lake/pond. I will definitely be back to camp here again.
