I reserved a camp site with Evan last minute in a multi day road trip. Booking was easy and he followed up with me right away about check-in instructions. Upon arrival, he gave us a quick tour/rundown of the camp area and delivered fire wood to our site for us. He was very attentive and accommodating and we will definitely be back!
The property was beautiful and very well maintained. Good separation between all the campgrounds and the hosts house. Definitely felt like a peaceful retreat but still within short driving distance to all the things to see in the Upper Peninsula!
We were newlyweds on a UP road trip looking for somewhere to stay the night last minute, hoping for something cooler than a state park… we were so happy to have found Evan and family’s beautiful homestead! I had browsed hipcamp many times in the past, but this was my first time actually using it and I’m so glad we gave it a go! Evan clearly put much care into laying out the camp sites. You’ll find a cozy spot with a fire ring and picnic table in a charming meadowy/orchardy setting. He was an extremely gracious host, providing us with firewood (and buckets of water to manage our fire) and gave us the quiet and privacy one wants when tent camping. We were only sorry we couldn’t stay longer. Already dreaming of a return visit. Pro tip: get a loaf of their homemade sourdough from the farm stand on your way out. Add cheese and fruit for a delicious, easy breakfast at your next stop :)
Evan is great
I had a last minute issue with my trip and had to cancel. Evan was so helpful and kind. He kept in touch and communicated really well. He contacted Hipcamp to refund my money even though it was a late cancellation past the date of being allowed a refund. Thank you Evan!
Serene and well kept farmstead
Evan’s campsite was fantastic! Quiet, secluded, easy to follow directions, unexpected amenities(like an outhouse, picnic table and potable water), and kind communication. A wonderful reprieve from crowded state parks and other local campgrounds.
Perfect spot under the stars!
Evan’s campsite was such a great spot!! This was the first Hipcamp site I have booked and I was more than welcomed at arrival to a smiling host and the most helpful family we could have asked for. The site was a picturesque clearing in a beautiful property right on a peaceful pond. The site has pits of sand next to the fire ring for a very comfortable sleeping that keeps the tent dry during the morning dew. It was just minutes away from a stunning beach with a rocky pier to a beautiful lighthouse in the perfect location for the sunset over Lake Superior. However, our favorite part of our stay was the clear sky over the secluded sight with some of the best starwatching we have had in Michigan.
Great spot to explore the keewenaw
Super quiet, nice views, plenty of space to spread out and relax for a couple of days. Host Evan is a good dude who had the camp site ready to go and is very knowledgeable about the area and what you should go check out. I'll go back.
Very peaceful and secluded
Very secluded, peaceful campsite with a view of the pond. It was an easy, short hike in and Evan provided a cart for hauling your gear. Evan was very welcoming and answered any questions I had. It was a great location between Houghton and Calumet within the Keweenaw Peninsula.
