We had a great stay at Camp Dubonett! Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and a tour. The campground featured many amenities from a mini camp store, to an indoor patio room with games to play and a indoor hang out area inside the barn. We were able to pick from various different campsites to pick that one that was perfect for us. The bathrooms are located in the barn which isn’t too far from the camp areas. The campfire area had firewood provided and a hanging grill grate over the fire which made cooking meals really easy! Our hosts were very knowledgeable about the area and were able to recommend local shops, eateries, and fishing spots! Camp Dubonnet is a nice secluded camp area perfect for people who aren’t interested in the hustle and bustle of the traditional busy campgrounds. This is a great spot for families, couples, and solo campers! We had a great time and will be back whenever we’re back in the area!

The TLDR is: far exceeded expectations, Tim and Curt are awesome hosts, beautiful grounds, we’ll be back! Read on for details...
My fiancé and I were lucky enough to be some of the inaugural campers at Camp Dubonnet. The grounds are lovely and tastefully designed. The campsites are settled in the woods a short walk down a kept trail. Location is perfect, only a few minutes from miles of trails, several lakes, and the town of Interlochen. Tim and Curt are great. Very friendly and an awesome resource for information on the surrounding area and exploring Traverse city. It would be hard to find better hosts. The camp has a large communal fire pit great for getting to know your fellow campers, or for larger groups of campers. Camp sites are nicely spaced apart. Just remember you’re in the woods so bring bug spray. We hiked the trails, but they would be great for mountain biking or horseback riding as well. We spent some time fishing, swimming and paddle boarding on Lake Dubonett, which is quiet and undeveloped. There are many other nearby lakes for other water sports. It’s about 25 minutes to downtown Traverse City making it a nice secluded base camp for exploring the restaurants and breweries around TC. We had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone! Be sure to ask Tim about the proper way to roll a burrito.

OMG! This is so sweet! Thank you guys so much for being wonderful! Also, thank you for all of the hard work you do. You deserved a break like this!
Amazing stay! Took our daughter camping for her 10th Bday. Tim and Kurt were amazing hosts. So caring and giving. They walked us around for a tour. Checked in with us to see if we needed anything. They even let us borrow their Camping mat for free. The bathrooms and the shower were 5 star. We will definitely be camping here again. Our favorite part of our stay was watching our kids searching for the painted rocks hidden throughout the property. Such a beautiful location! Highly recommended.

Saying this so everyone else can see it. Thank you so much for making our inaugural weekend so wonderful! Seeing the kids love the animals so much really solidified why we really want to do this!
This was our first time using hipcamp and we had a great experience at Tim’s place! Both hosts were extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a good one. The bathrooms and shower were clean, and they even had a little mini “camp store” in case you forgot something. They also sell their own homemade soaps which are all natural and smell amazing! Their dog and cats were sweet as well :) Thank you guys for a great stay!

Thanks Natalie! You guys keep up on all of the good work that you are doing... And stay healthy! Come visit us when there are 3 of you!
Camp Dubonett turned what we thought would be a great weekend into an AMAZING weekend! I’ve never met such hospitable and friendly hosts, they were so fun with so many stories and recommendations on what to do in the area. They made coffee every morning, cleaned the bathrooms, provided a hand drawn map for us, gave us blankets on a night we were cold, and even decorated the game room with Happy Birthday signs as a surprise for my friend! The property is BEAUTIFUL (pictures/videos do not do it justice) the campsites are very private nestled in the woods, there is the cutest dog named Squirrel and cat named Candy that keep you company when you’re exploring the property (And visiting the horse and goats!) and sitting by the bonfire sharing stories with other campers. I have been staying in Airbnb’s and camping for over a decade , and these are by far the best hosts I’ve met and the best property I’ve ever seen. Absolutely perfect for a nice relaxing weekend away with friends, family, couples. I would not change a thing! Thank you so much Tim and Curt for making our weekend so wonderful and one to remember! We will 100% be back!❤️

Nela, you guys were amazing! We loved having you here! Please come back and keep making your "weird" food over the fire!
WOW. Just book, you don't need to look any further. Tim and Kurt were phenomenal hosts. A group of 3 of us came for a long weekend away and we couldn't have had a better base camp than at Camp Dubonett.
From the communal camp fires every night which were so nice to sit around and get to know the hosts (who are just an absolute delight) to the other campers, to their animals on the farm (Squirrel is the cutest dog you'll ever see), to amenities (clean bathrooms & a nice shower), to pure hospitality. We came for a birthday and they even did something special for us! :)
Hot coffee in the mornings, a game room for a rainy day or nights or just fun (movies, crafts, all kinds of goodies). Forgot something? They have a camp store & snacks for sale!
The hosts created an adventure map for the property (you don't even have to leave if you don't want to, being on the property itself is so beautiful and peaceful). Lots of wildlife right there too! If you do want to go exploring they were so happy to provide suggestions on what to do in the area or where to go. Their location was ideal being right in the middle (20-30 min away) from so many different activities in all different directions. Being there 3 days was only the tip of the iceberg of what we could explore in that area. This may have been our first time there but it certainly won't be our last! Looking forward to our next visit!

Paulina, thank you so much! Please, please come back and join us. We had so much fun! Caitlin (probably spelled this wrong... Tell her sorry!) and I can swap more horror stories about onions!
The hosts were exceptional. Their property was beautiful. The hosts were the nicest people I have met in a long time. The sites were well maintained. I just couldn’t say enough wonderful things about the hosts and the camp site.

Billie, it was so nice meeting you guys! I feel bad we didn't have time to sit around the fire more. Come back so we can do it more next time!
Camping on Tim and Kurt’s farm, formally known as Camp Dubonnet, is a “must do” experience in the Traverse City area. My friend and I camped on their land for five days, and had a blast the whole time, largely due to the hospitality and recommendations of Tim and Kurt. They cut out some camp sites in the woods on their property and have a nice cart to help bring all of your stuff from the parking area to the camp site, so getting set up was a breeze. They have coffee made every morning when you wake up, which can be found in the game room and is also a sanctuary for campers that need some inside time. In the barn, alone with their animals, you’ll find two bathrooms, one with a shower, as well as trash and recycling cans. They have a communal fire pit that we hung out at every night, and was a great place to meet, and chat with your fellow campers as well as the hosts. In summary, Camp Dubonnet is as close to glamping as you can get while still “roughing” it a bit and sleeping in your own tent under the stars - they amenities make it worth every penny, and I know for certain I will be going back, and recommending this spot to anyone willing to listen.

Thanks Jack! We can't wait to see you guys again. Maybe next time we'll get to meet the GF!
If you’re looking for a place to stay that has great amenities while still “roughing it” this is the place to go! Not only have Tim & Kurt thought of every single thing possible to accommodate kids in their down time (rock painting, game room, friendship bracelets & many more activities) they are hands down the two kindest guys we’ve ever met! The kids didn’t want to leave and we’re planning our next stay before we even left! Thank you for inviting us in & treating us like family! We will be back!
