We book only 2 sites at a time on our 40 acre property so you can enjoy a more secluded experience. The sites are rustic and include a fire ring, picnic table,  cooking grate, and private "open air" pit toilet (click on the photos above to view) We accommodate tents and small trailers only, and do not allow generators, fireworks or firearms on the property.  Our property is undeveloped, so you will need to bring drinking water, but there's no need to worry about finding firewood before your arrive as we supply you with a free bundle that is waiting for you when you get here!  There are 1 1/2 miles of marked, wooded trails that will guide you to the river's edge where you can enjoy the beauty and wildlife along the West Branch of the Sturgeon River.  It will feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere, yet the convenience of the small town of Vanderbilt is just three miles away.

We are located just three miles off of I-75.  The larger town of Gaylord is only a 15 minute drive south.  There's lots to do here in beautiful Northern Michigan!  Only a few miles from our camp you can go for a swim at Thumb Lake Park or take a bike ride along the North Central State Trail in Vanderbilt.  Drive 15 minutes north and you can canoe or kayak the main branch of the Sturgeon River in Wolverine.  There are many great hiking trails in the Pigeon River State Forest and the North Country National Scenic Trail is only 6 miles away.

This cozy nook in northern Michigan was lovely to stay at. Quiet and supplied with simple camp amenities, camp 437 was a welcomed place to pitch our tent and relax amongst the trees.

Great spot. I loved it. There are little marked trails to hike. I didn't get a chance to do all of them but the couple that I did do were great. I would definitely book again when in the area.

The hosts were great and communicated well about how things work. It was all exactly as they explained and there were no surprises upon arrival. They provided a bucket of water to extinguish the fire and some fire starting goodies which was a nice touch.

Beautiful area. Felt secluded and private yet a town is easily accessible near by. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend to anyone looking to camp primitively.

We loved our stay at the field site! :)
The camp site was beautiful and so peaceful. We felt secluded yet very safe and comfortable being out in the woods. The nature was stunning & we could not be happier with our stay there & wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else!! When we arrived the hosts had left us with a bundle of firewood, skewers for the fire, tools to tend to the fire, a citronella candle, and a rake; they are so thoughtful and sweet. Overall, a 10/10 we loved it and definitely recommend!

Beautiful gated property close to the Sturgeon River. Extra touches (wood bundle, cooking tripod over fire, tiki torch, etc) made us feel welcome. Open air toilet was actually kinda nice! Hosts were very responsive to questions

Camp 437 was easy to find with firewood provided and a clean, secluded pit toilet. The site also had a picnic table, great for traveling with kids! The overall site was a bit damp and we made friends with quite a few slugs on our tent overnight. There are trials through the property and one passes this site, so you may have a few visitors like we did. Overall, an easy site to stop on the way up to the UP!

This site was a great stop on our way up to the U.P. Dove and John were great hosts - quick to answer a question and the provided maps and information were great.

The site itself was nice and clean with a stack of firewood as promised. There's a nice fire ring, picnic table, and the toilet was serviceable.

We enjoyed our stay in the woods, and would love to return sometime.
