The Yellow Dog River is close by and provides swimming and fishing opportunities.
We are 20 miles (app) north of Marquette, which is my home town. It is a destination for bikers, skiiers, and outdoor rec folk! There are so many things to see and do in Marquette, so make sure to plan enough time to check out the town! Also, just six miles to our north is historic Big Bay. A lumber town back in the day, it is full of history. Check out the Thunder Bay Inn, where parts of Anatomy of a Murder, starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick were filmed. Don't miss going to the Lumberjack to see where the actual murder took place, either! You will find good eats and perhaps even some live music at either establishment. You'll also find everything you need in the way of groceries, and gas at Cram's General Store, where there's also a laundromat, and the Hungry Hollow cafe. Burns landing has the historic Burns family home renovated in a park setting, and a public beach access to mighty Lake Superior. Stay awhile. You'll be glad you did!

A private spot with immediate river and lake access. Plenty of nearby land for exploring - canoeing, hiking, biking, fishing, etc.
Beautiful spot. Was really nice to be able to have dogs. Sue is a lovely host and available for any questions.
Sue,
The views of the lake from the cabin were wonderful and peaceful. Thank you for being very welcoming, made us feel at home. All the water fall trails & beaches you suggested were perfect. Thank you!

This place is beautiful and peaceful and very close to nice hikes and the town of Marquette. We stayed two nights and wish we could've stayed longer. I also recommend talking to the host Susan. She has a wealth of knowledge about the history and ecology of the area, and definitely ask her about StopTheRocket – this is an issue we all need to be aware of.

Sue is not only a fantastic host, but also a fascinating woman! We made a friend for life, and truly can’t wait to be back. The cabin was described as “Rustic Glamping” which hits it right on the nail. This site is close to everything, but far enough away that you still get lost in the wilderness.
We really enjoyed making use of The Sue’s canoe and close proximity to Bear Lake and Yellow Dog River. We highly recommend visiting the Yellow Dog River Falls (if you can find it).

I really enjoyed my stay! The Sues are such great folks and are so kind souled! Genuinely friendly and just down to Earth. Information was all laid out to us very thoroughly and found that quite helpful and very much appreciated.
The cabin is to die for adorable! So cozy and exactly what you need for a humble get away!!!

Sue’s place is absolutely beautiful and so private! We loved every minute and would love to return!!
My husband and I booked the cabin for 4 nights. We had an Awesome stay. Susan was the perfect host. She kept us informed of changing weather and storms coming in. The cabin kept us dry and comfortable. So much to do in the U.P. Beautiful location and got a chance to see so much wildlife. Owls, cranes, deer, turkeys and turtles. Highly recommend this host!!!!
