Our small cabin is overlooking Bear Lake to the west and the sunsets are amazing.  It is located on a small hill, a little walk from the parking area and amenities, which include a privy, drinking water, communal fire ring, screen tent with chairs, private river access, and a picnic table.  Inside the cabin is a kitchen counter, a dining table with two camp chairs, and a futon couch that is also a bed.   There is a picnic table outside next to cabin. The Yellow Dog River is close by and provides swimming and fishing opportunities.

We are 20 miles (app) north of Marquette, which is my home town.  It is a destination for bikers, skiiers, and outdoor rec folk!  There are so many things to see and do in Marquette, so make sure to plan enough time to check out the town!  Also, just six miles to our north is historic Big Bay.  A lumber town back in the day, it is full of history.  Check out the Thunder Bay Inn, where parts of Anatomy of a Murder, starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick were filmed.  Don't miss going to the Lumberjack to see where the actual murder took place, either!  You will find good eats and perhaps even some live music at either establishment.  You'll also find everything you need in the way of groceries, and gas at Cram's General Store, where there's also a laundromat, and the Hungry Hollow cafe.   Burns landing has the historic Burns family home renovated in a park setting, and a public beach access to mighty Lake Superior.  Stay awhile.  You'll be glad you did!

This place is beautiful and peaceful and very close to nice hikes and the town of Marquette. We stayed two nights and wish we could've stayed longer. I also recommend talking to the host Susan. She has a wealth of knowledge about the history and ecology of the area, and definitely ask her about StopTheRocket – this is an issue we all need to be aware of.

Sue is not only a fantastic host, but also a fascinating woman! We made a friend for life, and truly can’t wait to be back. The cabin was described as “Rustic Glamping” which hits it right on the nail. This site is close to everything, but far enough away that you still get lost in the wilderness.
We really enjoyed making use of The Sue’s canoe and close proximity to Bear Lake and Yellow Dog River. We highly recommend visiting the Yellow Dog River Falls (if you can find it).
