+++ Now with long awaited private bathroom/toilet/hot shower completed! +++

Salamander Hollow is a private, evolving honeybee and human being sanctuary on 18 acres of land abutting Massachusetts State Forest, with currently a one room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for two or three other sleeping bags.

This remote Warwick, Massachusetts property abuts many miles of New England Trails, including to Mount Grace and a 45 minute drive to Mount Monadnock. One can pack a lunch and take a round trip day hike/snow shoe or cross country ski right off the property to and around Richmond Reservoir. Its also a short drive to swimming & trout fishing at Sheomet Pond - also, known as Clubhouse Pond.

A ten minute drive takes you to the parking area to hike up Tully Mountain.

There is a grill, wood fired pizza oven, two fire pits and a hygienic Incinolet electric toilet on the property, with small camping sink for handwashing/teeth brushing.

Take a short hike off the property to organic Chase Hill Farm for milk, eggs, seasonal veggies, grass fed meat and other goodies. Say hello to their cows, chickens, pigs and pups.

For those interested in the glamping side of camping, you will enjoy a remote rustic experience with a few creature comforts to keep you well read, clean and fed.

Please bring your own bedding - pillows, sleeping bags, comforter, teddy bears.

There is a wall mounted blue tooth car radio/CD player in Sleeping Library, so bring your pre-digital favorites. Classical CDs currently to listen to. Lots of eclectic books to peruse.

Walkie talkies, a set of 4, are available upon request.

Electric 2-burner stovetop and griddle upon request.

A courtesy amount of firewood is provided in sleeping library and tipi, yet bring fire-starters/newspaper for tinder. We suggest if you are staying more than a night or two in winter, you bring supplemental wood or we can direct you to a nearby stand to buy more should you run out. Next season, our own cut and split wood will be seasoned and available on site.

We ask that you carry out trash and recyclables.

If you'd like to rent the Slovenian beehive sleeping cabin, with additional sleeping for four [two in sleeping loft and two in queen size futon] it available now to do so.

Also, available is the new Kula Bata Tiny Cabin with Infrared Sauna, kitchenette, dishwasher, laundry & guest bedroom for two.

An established Western facing four point sacred Medicine Wheel, currently covered in snow, will reveal itself in Spring as we continue to cultivate it on Askari Ridge [our name for the slope starting with the two fire pits - Askari, swahili for the guard -  where we envision a great touch-point area for those leading groups to be for a basecamp by day or night -  where eventually a multi-use tenting platform/performance stage will be constructed for outdoor entertainment, creating an authentic 'stadium style' seating on the hill.

My husband and I had the best time with our two pups. The property is absolutely gorgeous and lush, and the dogs loved doing laps around the pond. The cabin is cozy, and the wood stove is warm, inviting and relaxing. Mary had spa radio on Alexa playing when we arrived with the smell of lavender and we hadn't felt that relaxed or slept that good in a long time. The tipi was incredible, we had a fire and the sound of the rain outside made for a great night paired with wine. You could tell that the owners put a lot of thought and attention to detail to every aspect of the property from the cabin, to the tipi structure and the beehive cabin. Everything has a personal touch to it. We are already talking about coming back in the winter months when it snows and brainstorming ideas for using the pizza stove. Absolutely loved the local honey. Thanks again for everything!

A unique and gorgeous setting -- this place exceeded all our expectations and our four-year-old adored exploring it. We cooked in the pizza oven, found frogs and salamanders on the trails, made a campfire surrounded by wildflowers, and slept well in the very comfortable library and beautiful tipi. It was even more glamorous than we expected, with access to a full bathroom, fridge, and gas grill making the "camping" very easy. Mary was very kind and communicative. I would absolutely stay again, and bring a larger group to try out the beehive cabin, too!

We had a wonderful time at Salamander Hollow. Mary was great and even left us some delicious honey from her honeybees! We loved using the outdoor pizza oven, relaxing in the tipi and walking in the woods. We walked to the farm store nearby for lots of delicious goodies! We had a very peaceful stay. Can't wait to return in the fall or winter!

My husband, son, and I had a wonderful time at Salamander Hollow! Both the campsite and the scenery are gorgeous, and Mary has thought of every detail to make this “glamping” experience perfect.

The sleeping library is a tiny little house with a wood stove and electricity. There is a loft upstairs that’s good for one adult or maybe 2 kids and downstairs there are 2 benches with sleeping pads and fur throws.

The tepee has a nice wood platform with a firepit, 2 chairs, and 2 cots with fur throws. Everything was very clean and new, and the cots were more comfortable than I expected them to be! We built a fire in the tepee on our last night and it got very smoky because our kindling was a little damp, so that is something to be aware of. If it gets too smoky, you need to stand outside of the tepee and let it air out. Once we got the fire going well, however, it was so cozy and created such a nice atmosphere.

The eating/cooking area is covered and has absolutely everything you need except the food… and a pot. There are 2 big pans, but no pot, so bring your own. It does, however, have a freezer and fridge, which is a nice touch. There’s a grill and a wood-fired pizza oven (which was fun to use) as well as pump for water and a pump sink for doing the dishes. The water is not good for drinking though, so bring your own drinking water.

There is a brand new really nice bathroom (complete with a shower) which is a short walk from the site and attached to a little cabin (which they also rent out). There is an incinerator toilet on the site. I think it’s worth it to walk to the bathroom.

A few of the bees came over to check us out, but they just flew around a bit and left. An owl came to greet us as well.

Mary was on the ball and gave us lots of helpful information prior to our stay. I recommend this place highly for anyone who loves the idea of camping but wants to feel a little more comfortable.

Our group had a wonderful time visiting Salamander Hollow for a couple nights! Both the tipi and the library were comfortable to sleep in - we were grateful for the multiple fans to keep us cool! The property is beautiful and had everything we needed. The new bathroom is prime! Mary and Ingo were friendly, hospitable, and accommodating. We are already excited to go back with more friends and family!
