Not really camping... The farm's cabin has been spiffed up for guests with a comfy double bed, a window seat and a small table for writing or just coffee. This one room cabin on short stilts sits slightly uphill from the farmstead. It has screens all down one side, so it has nice air and a great feel of being outdoors.  It's a wonderful, quiet perch from which to hear, smell, watch and enjoy farm life. There's no heat (wood stove in only decorative)  so you get to experience the lovely brisk spring night air and cuddle up into your sleeping bag.  The 'windows' are SCREENS ONLY (no windows/glass) April through Oct. (see photos).  They are swapped out for actual windows Nov. -April.

Our private cabin is close to all Berkshire cultural attractions and outdoor activities while nestled in the countryside on a quiet organic farm. It's a great base for exploration, a romantic hideaway, or a quiet writing retreat.

Though you can recharge your laptop or phone, there's no internet connectivity, so your retreat won't be interrupted by squawks, or chirps, except from our rooster, and real, live crickets and tree frogs. The farmhouse is nearby (50 yards), but the cabin is wonderfully private. The cabin's own mini 'lawn' and fire pit (WE HAVE FIREWOOD for sale) are just outside the door.  Stroll the farm road, and explore the farm, keeping in mind that it's a working farm.   Hike the maintained Nature Conservancy trail right next to the farm, or just chill in your hideaway.  This retreat is perfect for solo adventurers and couples.

It's cozy and rustic--it's a farm!--with a wonderful vibe.  This is definitely not airb&b.  Expect to be awakened by a crowing rooster.  If field mice (that sometimes visit the cabin!), a lowing cow in a nearby field, poison ivy, spiders, grass soaked with morning dew, dogs, a hooting owl or coyote's howl cause you consternation, this is decidedly not for you.

Because of covid restrictions, the toilet is now a porta-potty that is less than 100 yards from the cabin.  The cabin has no running water. (Natch, water's available at the house.)

Take-out meals are available out at any of the numerous, great south Berkshire eateries: There's a great cafe five minutes away for cappuccino, muffins or a breakfast sannie and a dozen terrific restaurants within 20 minutes. ...or...  Bring your own gear (camp stove, pan and dishes) to prep and cook your meal at the fire pit--that's the 'rough' camping part!  We can provide some materials if you need: FIREWOOD, charcoal, organic pasture-raised meats, organic veggies, eggs, etc. as seasonally available (separate charges)--Check the "Extras" on this listing, or, if you don't see what you want, shoot us a message about what you need. (You can also check our website.)

See our tent site listing for more awesome details about the farm, trails, and cool stuff in the environs.

We ask that guests respect our privacy in and around the house, and immediate environs--these areas are not for guests' use.  On the farm, closed areas (with doors and gates) are off limits: pastures, animal enclosures, stalls, etc.   If in doubt, please ask.

Moon in the Pond was a very refreshing weekend away from cell phones and the urban pace of life. We were able to get a campfire roaring and roasted some great veg and meat.

The cabin is basic, but very comfortable and nice.

The beautiful land and cabin was definitely worth the trip! The farm is gorgeous and the cabin was private but still close enough to the farm, it really made the experience of living on a farm feel real! Loved visiting the animals and using the fire pit to cook up some farm fresh eggs. Would definitely recommend staying here to a friend. Heavily considering coming back in the fall. Dominic was very thoughtful and helpful in making our stay as enjoyable as possible. Overall amazing cabin, beautiful farm, and great environment to be in :)

Dominic was a wonderful host. It’s a very simple cabin in the corner of a lovely farm. It’s private and quiet. I was looking for a place to meditate, hike, and have alone time. The cabin was perfect for that.

The area is beautiful. There is hiking right outside the door. I did drive into Great Barrington to shower at the community center.

I will definitely stay here again the next time I want to go on a retreat.

The cabin was an incredible escape from the city. Perfect for someone like me who loves camping but didn’t want to put in all the effort around setting up a camp. Cozy in the evenings and lovely in the morning. Just remember to bring your bug spray and you’ll have a lovely time.

Dont miss out on the farm fresh sausage and bacon Dominic offers! Sausage itself made the trip worth it.

Dominic was such a kind and accommodating host - we had an amazing stay on the farm and it was so refreshing to leave the city for a peaceful getaway! The fresh eggs and sausage were incredible and there's nothing like cooking your own breakfast on the fire first thing in the morning.

Stay at Dominic's farm was so nice! Very peaceful and more than we hoped for. Eggs and sausage from farm are a must! Definitely recommend to anyone considering a city getaway with a bit more accommodations than camping.

Joe, Thanks so much for coming! It was a pleasure to have guests that appreciate the quiet serenity of the farm and the 'farmy rusticness'. Please come visit us again! Best, Dom

We loved our stay at the cabin and on Dom's farm. We took advantage of getting the farm's sausages to cook in the fire pit - they were so good! The cabin is tucked back in the property just enough for real privacy, but close enough to the parking area and the farmhouse that the small trek for supplies/getting in and out is no sweat. We appreciated that the cabin had electricity to recharge our devices after our day trips and hikes nearby. The sheep and chickens were adorable. Dom is a wonderful host and farmer, we would highly recommend this spot if you're considering it!

Dominic’s cabin and farm were idyllic. We loved walking the property and the surrounding towns and hikes were fantastic. Dom himself was very helpful and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We were comfortable in the cabin although it did get pretty cold without windows so we were glad to have warm sleeping bags. Overall it was a great experience I would definitely recommend!
