Good place to stop for car camping
Super friendly host. Great spot for me to car camp on my way through. While not a "destination camp spot", this was perfect as a safe place for me to camp overnight passing through. The kids were sweet to bring me lots of fire wood and they helped wear out my dog which was super appreciated before we had to get in the car to sleep for the evening! I was close to the house which felt safe but far enough that it felt private. There is some traffic noise. This is an excellent option for a through camper, you'll be happy you stopped here!
Great spot and awesome hosts!
I had a wonderful stay here for a night and was planning to stay two nights but bad weather was coming in late on the second night. But I didn’t want to leave, so I enjoyed dinner over the campfire and s’mores before leaving at 9:30 pm since it stays light so late these days! Hannah and Jesse and their little boy were awesome, super welcoming and friendly. Hannah even offered the floor of the barn if I had wanted to stay during the rainy weather, which I would have, had the next day looked nice enough to enjoy. The site was very spacious and well-situated for my tent, with a fire pit and nice bench by the fire plus a roomy picnic table and more benches. Also a convenient outhouse nearby. The two sites are kind of near each other, but the other couple were quiet and stayed mostly in their camper so no problem there. If you bring kids or have a group, there’s a ton of space to run around and play games. Hannah’s directions to get there were perfect, and it’s very convenient off I-91. I did hear a little highway noise but nothing disruptive. I heard and saw trains going by at a distance but only during the day. I chose this camping spot for the idyllic surrounding area, convenience from my home in Central CT, and the unbelievable price! Sure, you can find a site on Hipcamp that has more perks like waterfront or a working farm, but then you’re paying more. Hannah’s spot suited me perfectly and I can’t wait to return! Thank you to Hannah, Jesse and all your family. I hope to have better luck with the weather next time, but even so that 24+ hours were just what I needed!
This campsite was exactly what my partner and I were looking for for the night. Hannah allowed us to drive through the field right up to our campsite so that we didn't need to carry our tent and gear any distance at all! She even delivered us some fire wood to get us started! I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a simple campsite under the stars in this area. (Bonus: if you are a rock climber, it's close to a bunch of local crags. Check out Sunbowl if you happen to spend a night here for some really close easy/moderate sport!)
Had a wonderful night stay! Hannah was very friendly and welcoming and she told us she would help us with whatever we needed for our night! It was very appreciated and made us feel even more welcomed!
