Situated on nearly 300 acres of preserved land on the Barre-Oakham border, Renaissance Farms was created from lands belonging to several early farmers. At one time, it was owned by Vernon Willey, Lord Barnby the owner of the Barre Wool Combing Company, and was a summer playground for his family and friends, complete with a cricket pitch. More recently, it has been home to dairy cattle and dairy goats, and was also used to grow landscaping trees. We are now a developing farm-scale permaculture project.

BOONDOCKING::

We welcome boondockers with their RVs, Campers, and Tiny Houses for one night or more. Suggested offering: $10/person/night. Please email us before your planned visit to make sure we have room for you. Also, check out our listings on Harvest Hosts and Farm Stay

HIKING, PACKING, AND CYCLING::

We welcome hikers, packers, and cyclers to visit and explore our beautiful farm. Saturdays are the best days to come. Please be sure to contact us in advance. We have about 5 miles of trail on our farm.  You can also book a goat hike, please reserve in advance for an additional fee.

SNOWMOBILING::

Our farm boasts over two miles of snowmobile trails, maintained by the Ware River Snowmobile Club. Trails cover level and steep terrain through open fields and woodland. Please stop by the farmhouse and say hello to the family, and let us know if you need any type of assistance.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING, SNOWSHOEING::

With a variety of terrains over nearly 300 acres of unspoiled land, skiers and shoers are sure to find a day here rewarding. Please give us a call in advance of your visit to check on conditions and restrictions.

EQUESTRIAN:: We welcome riders to explore two miles of groomed trails on our farm. At this time, trailer parking space is limited, and there are no boarding facilities. Beware that we have both steep and wet sections of trail.

CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, AND EVENTS:: We have a range of educational and recreational activities planned throughout the 2021 season, Covid permitting.  Please check before booking.
