Loved the openness of this campsite and change of scenery from our usual camping trips. This was a convenient location, close to stores etc. We didn’t have time to explore nearby hiking or swimming hole but appreciated the pamphlet of local attractions provided by host.
Beautiful & great for right group
Vines and vistas is a beautiful spot. Gorgeous Berkshire views, great sunsets - I'd love to come back a little later in the year when the foliage is peak scenic. Lauren was friendly and responsive in messages. We're fairly new to camping, and we were with a three-year-old this trip, so I think knowing what I know now, I would only book a one night stay in the future as the composting toilet (solids only - tie them up in a bag and toss them in the trash can just outside the hut, which is unfortunately facing the campground and the fire pit and which was somewhat overgrown and without a door) was a bit more "roughing it" than we thought we were signing up for when we saw this site was marked as having a toilet. You'll want to make sure your crew is OK with lots of little grasshoppers and frogs and dragonflies, but we didn't have issues with mosquitoes or bees so that was fine. We heard some howling coyotes in the night which did not go over well with the outdoorsy newbies or the dogs. The $10 per bundle wood was a bit on the pricey side considering the wood was a bit wet so I'd probably bring it in from elsewhere next time. And the grass around the dog run was a bit overgrown so was less useful than it could have been. BUT all that said, I would come back to this site for the views alone, just under different circumstances: only one night because of the toilet, joined by more comfortable and experienced campers, BYO wood, only bring the most well-behaved dogs who can hang without need of the dog run. Great daytime activities nearby: breweries, nature walks/hiking, water holes for swimming. The picnic table and the wood platform were great to have on the campsite, as was the water already onsite on our arrival, and the fire pit and grate were clean and useful too.
Interesting small farm location
It was neat to stay in the vineyard on the hill of the small farm. Some sort of door on the bathroom area would be helpful. We only stayed overnight, but the site is quiet and still close to a pretty cool town.
Even though it was raining, the site provided a level deck for us to pitch a tent and made us dry for the most of the night! Once we checked out, it was raining as well but we had to make a long trek to our next destination!
Nevertheless, great communication from Lauren! Also, since no refund was provided for the wet firewood that we already ordered so the next guest gets firewood free! Will come back next time we’re nearby!
