This campsite offers campers a unique experience. The spring house (structures that were historically used for refrigeration) was built in the mid-1800s but a new deck has recently been added, making it a great place to sit out and relax. Campers can set their tent up on the deck platform and enjoy fire flies at night. The deck has chairs and a fire pit and it is a great place for hanging out. Just 50 ft away from the deck is a gentle little stream in the shade.
Note: the deck is 10 ft wide and 16ft long and can fit usually just one tent.
Many trails around Loch Raven Reservoir are easily accessible by foot from the property. We can help direct you to the best places once you get here but the website "All Trails" has them all marked out pretty good, just search "Cockeysville" and you can see them all on the map, it might be helpful to download the app/maps ahead of time.

Nature fun galore
John and Gail have beautiful land with awesome trails in a great location. Not far from Baltimore, the historic spring house is a great homebase to explore off of. The area just has so many nature spots and even the site has trails that venture off into what feels like a fairy wonderland, complete with robust fungi and a swing at the fresh spring! The bamboo provided great shade in the afternoon and our hosts were there to help us with anything we needed, like lots of extra water! Overall, we had great sleep and the bird noises was probably my favorite part of it all...I'm still dreaming of their songs.
This is a wonderful place to stay. John and Gail are great and extraordinarily helpful. I have stayed here before, and returned because I love it so much. It is close to anything you might need. There are lots of hiking trail both from here and nearby. It is very close to Loch Raven reservoir where there are tons of trails. I highly recommend this site.
Actually, there are 2 sites, each unique with their own benefits.
A perfect getaway!
This was the perfect little campsite! Walking distance to some beautiful trails which was perfect for us and our pup. And John and Gail were just the most wonderful, lovely hosts.
Delightful, well run, convenient
I stayed here for 4 weeks in November and December. It was absolutely wonderful. There's a good-sized space for a tent and the spring house itself i used as my kitchen where i set up my stove, etc. The hosts are great and there are lots of trails for hiking. It is located 5 minutes from anything one might need. I highly recommend this place.
Nice spot for a quick city getaway
John and his family made sure we had everything we needed to set up a comfortable campsite. They even had lighters and lighter fluid in the springhouse! We loved being able to camp close to the city.
