BECAUSE OF COVID19, WE ARE CURRENTLY ONLY ACCEPTING GUESTS WHO HAVE THEIR OWN SELF-CONTAINED camping VEHICLES WITH TOILETING FACILITIES. NO COMMUNAL AMENITIES ARE AVAILABLE. THE PRIVY IS CLOSED. If you are tenting, you MUST have your own portable potty with which you carry away your human waste. Waste is one of the ways CoVid19 spreads. I repeat the public privy is closed.

Edible Landscape Farm is a rural home, located an hour and a half from both metro DC and Baltimore. Several National Parks are close enough for day trips, and two are less than 10 miles away.

There are so many adventures, both commercial and non-commercial, that it's hard to know what to list. We'll give you a smattering of the possibilities.

We are a great spot for bicyclists -- 2 miles from C&O Canal.  We're convenient for those who are cycling the Great Allegany Passage from Pittsburgh to D. C.  and want a restful night off the beaten path.

Also, this area hosts long distance bicycle races, so if you want to put in time training on challenging terrain, this is your spot.

We love people who camp with horses -- Ride the C&O Canal or Antietam Battlefield. You will have to trailer your horses to the nearby riding sites. While at our home overnight, you can tie your horses to your trailer or bring your own temp corral. Water for your buckets is available. Temporary hitching post provided.

With advance planning, we can rent our entire camping area to horse camping groups, so several friends can camp and ride together in our region.

Welcome to Civil War Buffs -- Our camp site is close to Antietam, Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Sharpsburg -- and Gettysburg is within day trip range! You can't experience it all in a single weekend because there's so much to take in.

Check Antietam Battlefield's events calendar for re-enactments, July 4th fireworks, and other spectacular events.

A cool place unknown to many is Fort Frederick State Park, home to an amazing stone fort built in the 1700's!  They host re-enactments, cannon firings and fort tours. The park is a 20 minute drive from our camp.

Are you a Power Boater or Paddler? For easy access, the Boat Ramp for the navigable portion of the Potomac River at Big Slackwater -- a part of C&O Canal Natl Park -- is 3 miles away. Power Boats must have current registration. Rangers will check. There is FREE RIVER Access at two locatons, one above the dam and one below the dam.

Don't own a boat? There are commercial canoeing and rafting rental businesses close by.

Wineries and breweries are everywhere in the region (MD-VA-WV) and too numerous to mention individually.  Talk to us about your interests and we'll try to steer you to what you may be looking for.

Live Theatre Buffs -- Shepherdstown, WV's Contemporary American Theatre Festival - 15 min drive away. This is a highly acclaimed seasonal event.

Artists and Authors -- Find inspiration in scenic Maryland farmland, old Civil War era stone walls and stone arch bridges, historical libraries and towns.

Nora Roberts fans can tour the hometown of the author and visit her book store in Boonsboro, MD, a short drive away.

Gardener's and Natural Medicine Students will appreciate that the campsite is surrounded by grounds with the owner's emphasis on edible landscape, foraging edibles, and natural medicinal plants. An educational lecture available for a fee. Farm is still under development.

Camping is primitive. Each tent site has a fire ring that can only be used in low wind conditions and non-drought seasons for fire safety.

You are camping in a rural neighborhood, so horses, cows, goats and chickens live nearby. Because you are in the country, roosters crow, cows low in the distance, hawks cry, owls hoot. Fresh eggs and farm produce are available from many sources locally.

We are pet-friendly with a provision. If your dog doesn't know how to relax around unfamiliar animals and people, please leave the pet home for everyone's safety and pleasure.

The neighboring houses are spaced out, but within sight. In order to be good neighbors, we ask our campers to quiet down to ultra soft voices at 9 pm, and be silent after 10 pm. Please respect private property and your camping neighbors.

Fay and her trusty horse Jake were gracious hosts. She was welcoming, helpful and warm while carefully respecting our privacy. The property was well kept and very quiet. She provided firewood and a place for us to plug in our camper. Our 29' trailer required some maneuvering to park, but it was easier than most state parks we've visited. Close to highways, lots to do outside nearby between the Potomac, C&O canal and historic battlefield. Would gladly visit again

We just needed a place overnight but wished we could’ve stayed longer! It was an enchanting place with an old horse named Jake and beautiful gardens with an overflowing bounty offered up for us to enjoy! Fay was a wonderful host. She was super accommodating in getting us set up and sharing her philosophy about her edible landscape around the property. We picked tomatoes and concord grapes and even had enough to make a batch of 4 pints of jelly from the grapes!!

Fay was very welcoming when we arrived. If you are looking for a quiet place to spend the night and stay in your camper or tent, then Fay's property will do the trick. After 9pm we didn't hear any noise at all. For those looking to connect with nature you might want to look someplace else. The two camp sites Fay has to offer are in her driveway in front of the barn or on a gravel pad to the right side of the barn. There are houses and a road that can be seen and can see you from each spot. Overall, we had a quiet place to sleep, Fay was willing to give us information about things to do in the area, and Fay was very friendly and welcoming.

off-grid (a bonus)
Fay was helpful, informal, helped us get located and gave us all the “space” we needed.

Parked on pavement in front of barn with access to hookups. Awning out on other side of trailer with entrance facing Jake the friendly 30 yr old horse.Last night with slowly dying fire after salmon on the grill and candles for added atmosphere.

Our stay was quite nice. Fay was inviting and an engaging person. She was helpful with much information about the area. The site itself was quiet and pleasant. Our immediate next-door neighbor, Jake the horse, was warm and welcoming as well.

Not a bad place to stay convenient to the river. The site wasn’t as out in nature as I prefer, but that is preference. I would visit again for the easy river access.

We planned a one night stay here on our way to another destination and it was as expected. A nice shady place to camp for the night. It was private, and my family had a nice overnight.
When my 4 yr old son got hurt, Fay was quick to offer help and gave us info on local Urgent Care even though we didn’t need it.
My kids enjoyed feeding the horse carrots and riding their bikes. Fay also gave us a bunch of blackberries from her property. We had a nice stay!
