Welcome to our waterfront property at Deep Creek Lake - located in Garrett County, MD, in the heart of McHenry!
Perfect for RV's; the lot is about 100 feet wide and 100 feet deep. It's a sloping lot with a paved, level area across the entire top of the lot adjacent to Deep Creek Drive, where you can just pull into the spot and pull through when you're ready to leave without reversing.
We have also recently added a stone fire pit down near the lake for your enjoyment (the fire pit is temporarily unavailable for use until May 2022). So, you can enjoy a campfire and roasting marshmallows right on the water!
The property is located right next door to the Aquatic Center (best place on the lake to buy or rent a boat, canoe, SUP and other water sports equipment), which is perfect if you're wanting to explore any fun water activities.
We are also just steps to many of the area's various other 4 season attractions, including:
- Wisp Ski Resort (skiing, snowboarding, restaurants, mountain coaster, etc. - 4 min drive)
- Monkey Business Adventure Park (zip lines and ropes course - 1 min drive)
- Deep Creek Fun Zone (go-karts, mini-golf, arcade, bumper boats, laser tag and American Bar and Grill - 2 min drive)
- Garrett County Fairgrounds (3 min drive)
- Funland (go-karts, mini-golf, arcade, bumper cars, etc. - 4 min drive)
- Lodestone Golf Course (10 min drive)
- 8 different state parks nearby, including Deep Creek lake state park which has 2 sandy beaches and public boat launch ramps (a boat launch ramp is also available next door at the Aquatic Center during the boating season for a fee)
- ASCI Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking, Canoeing, etc. (10 min drive)
- Antiquing, museums, shopping and other activities of nearby historic Oakland, MD
- Tons of restaurants and shopping within a couple minutes drive of the property
There is truly something for everyone to enjoy!
Other things to note:
- We've recently added signs and cones to ensure that you have the property to yourself and that nobody else will be parking there.
- There are some flatter areas (but not completely flat) down closer to the lake around the three trees at the center of the lot (shown with a hammock in the pictures - the hammock is not included in the rental but these trees would be great for your hammock).
- Available activities vary by season.
- There is a Shop & Save Grocery Store, just a 4 min drive away.

We drove 3 hrs to find the camping lot was just a big shoulder on the side of the road there was no privacyat all . We were afraid a passing vehicle may run into the rear of our trailer. The lot was not level heading down to the lake and the firepit was covered up by a boat dock that had been removed from the lake.
The site is located next to Deep Creek Lake, a popular recreation area for boating, fishing and water sports. This is a great location for a family to come, camp and enjoy the lake complete with boat and kayak rentals next door. There are also non-lake family fun things to do from a zip-line center and entertainment activities near by.
The actual site is a 100 x 100 ft lakefront lot with a paved area next to the road to park the RV and grass area the extends 100 ft down to the lake to set up chairs, etc. The host, David was very accommodating and promptly answered all my questions about the site prior to arrival. To insure the door is facing the lake when you pull in, it is best to drive south on Deep Creek Drive so you can just pull in.
As stated, the parking area is adjacent to the road. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon so there was allot of traffic which tapered down as the evening progressed. By nightfall there was no traffic. I would suggest bringing reflectors to put out next to your unit to aid drivers passing by at night.
Cell service was good (2 bars AT&T). Since you are there with no one around, running a generator poses no problem. Trash has to be taken out, but there were plenty of places near by so disposal was not a problem.
Overall, I would give this site 4 stars mostly because it is next to the road; otherwise, everything else was fine.

Thank you Scamper, we're glad you enjoyed your trip!
The location and view from this property were amazing! Directly on the waterfront, wonderful view of the lake. It is located next to a boat rental facility so was very crowded where our trailer was parked during the open hours, but down by the water was still quiet. We were able to fish and kayak directly from the lakeside! Traffic cleared out pretty early (by 6pm-ish) and it was peaceful and beautiful after that! Definitely recommend!

Brooke, thank you very much for your review. We're so pleased to hear that you loved the property and had a great time. We're in the process of making a cutout in the asphalt and adding signs to physically separate our property from the road in order to address any issues with marina customers parking on our property so that future Hipcampers will have full private use all of our 100ft of frontage without anybody else parking on our lot near their RV. Thanks again for your helpful feedback!
Wonderful place! Amazing views!!
A lot fun for the kids

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Mario, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Beautiful place , but only for RVs not for tents .

Neila, thank you for staying at our property, we're glad you found the site to be beautiful! We understand that tent camping can be challenging here unless guests have an RV/trailer or are accustomed to totally self sustained "dry camping", since the site currently doesn't have electricity, bathrooms or other amenities. Thanks again for staying with us and we hope to see you again in the future.

Hi Jonathan, I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't have a great camping experience. We try our best to give campers a clear understanding of what to expect from the campsite through the description and photos in our ad, which we feel that we've done well. I do apologize about the fire pit being unavailable - the dock removal service had just moved that dock a day or so before you arrived and shouldn't have put it right on top of our fire pit. I hadn't been there since they moved it or I would've given you a heads up (our ad has been updated to reflect that the fire pit will be unusable for the rest of the season until the dock gets moved in the spring). I'm really sorry that you felt unsafe - as described in our ad, our property is adjacent to the road which is part of the reason we added the reflective signs and permanently installed full size bright orange reflective safety cones to help separate the parking area from the road. Unfortunately in the lake area lots of homes and parking spots are adjacent to the road, but none of our other guests have felt unsafe or had any problems with it. Please let me know if you think there's more we need to include in the ad to make any of this more clear for prospective campers. Thanks again for staying with us and for your feedback! Shari
