Fool's Grove is my lazy two-acre homestead, perfect for the first time camper. There is a dwarf fruit tree orchard, blackberries, blueberries, figs, and a pollinator garden. I often have deer in my yard, groundhogs live under the garage, and occasionally a flock of wild turkeys visits. Past campers have told me that I have "excellent bird diversity" in my orchard. I keep Fool's Grove as organic as possible and avoid the use of chemicals. There are no unpleasant-smelling chicken farms near me, I promise! Our camping experience is "Primitive Plus" because I do have shared electricity, a shared chemical toilet, shared water (hose), and a shared kitchenette (in the garage). For bathing, an affordable option I encourage campers to bring is a "Simple Shower". Upon arrival park up by the garage. A very short walk behind the garage will take you to our camping site which sits between the solar panels and the grapes. It includes a small fire pit, several chairs, and a cable tie for pets. This site is roughly equivalent to the State Park "Group Sites". In fact, Fool's Grove is available for outdoor religious ceremonies, such as celebrations of the equinoxes and solstices, and weddings. We also offer a primitive kitchenette in our garage which includes a mini-fridge, drip coffee makers, toaster ovens, and fire starting and first aid supplies. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 6am. On your arrival day, please text us to let us know your ETA so we can arrange to greet you. Rabies-vaccinated dogs are welcome. Please keep your dog on a leash and clean up after your dog. The mowed perimeter of the property is a great place for a long dog walk and is about .25 miles. Please check out my "Extras" including firewood, woodfire cooking tools, laundry services, musical performances, baby trees and fruit, when in season.

Natural features you'll find at Fools Grove Camp in Maryland.
I'd describe it more like "edible landscaping" but we've got lots of berries!

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Many amenities. great host.
Wow, we would love to stay here again. The host Liz is an absolutely wonderful person and very helpful. She took the time to show us around and pointed out every amenity. Liz definitely has thought of every detail. We needed a place to camp on very short notice. Liz responded quickly with confirmation. There are some houses nearby, but we felt very secluded. It was not a problem at all for us. Restaurants and gas are a short drive away. We very much enjoyed our time here and will be back. Thank you!
Fools Grove Camp was a great spot to stay on my family's vacation to the Eastern Shore. Liz greeted us at the driveway upon arrival and gave us a tour of the facilities. We were allowed to pitch our tent and canopy in a large field behind her house and had access to a kitchenette in the garage. We were also given Farm Fresh eggs! We opted to pay a few extra dollars for some bundles of firewood and had a roaring fire going all evening. Granted the property is in a residential area, it was quiet (minor street noises as cars passed), and Liz gave us a ton of privacy while still offering her assistance, if needed. I highly recommend this campsite. It was only an hour away from the ocean and nowhere close to the hassle of booking a busy hotel!
Excellent host & awesome camping
Elizabeth has a great property and an AWESOME hipcamp set up!! She's a very helpful and kind host and she goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The garage setup with the little kitchenette is pretty cool and very well done. There is a chemical toilet for use that is very clean. There is a hose where you can get water and a beautiful flat large area to camp in!
Loved our stay at Fool’s Grove! We went on a last-minute girls trip to Assateague/Rehoboth beach and were lucky enough to find Fool’s Grove. Liz was very sweet from the minute we arrived. She showed us her edible landscaping and told us all about her plans for the property. If only we had known to come a few weeks ago when everything is in bloom! But she promises her garden will be bigger and better next year, so we’ll definitely be back to check it out ;)
Be advised, this site is in a somewhat residential area. Site 2 afforded us a reasonable amount of privacy, but we could still hear traffic from the neighbors and the main roads during peak hours. We also had access to the bonfire to cook dinner, but unfortunately the wood that was provided was wet. Of course, this isn’t the host’s fault, (she set aside MOUNTAINS of fallen twigs, branches, etc and even brought us some fire starters she had made!) and as we found out, it gets VERY humid/dewy at night. Anyway, there are several convenience stores VERY close by for food/liquor/firewood runs in case you forget anything or decide your night of stargazing deserves a little more wine to go with dinner! :)
Excellent choice for a stopover
Elizabeth answered all my questions prior to booking and our arrival. The site was the perfect place to stay for our visit to Assateague and Chincoteague. A coffee station was also setup prior to our arrival, which was a definite plus. The toilet was clean each morning and the grass was freshly mowned prior to our arrival.
We booked site 1 and 2 and ended up using only site 2 just for comfort and proximity to each other.
The place had plenty of space to setup both of our tents, which are a medium size (each tent for 6-8 people), but smaller than I had thought.
One thing to note is that the first night was a bit loud, perhaps because it was a Saturday. The second night was just fine.
Overall, I would recommend Elizabeth's place and would stay here again!
